The Time Traveller And The Reaper

The days grow stronger as you drift further and further away from me,
Though there are nights where I silently wonder what went wrong.
I don't know how to express to you that I care,
Sentences well rehearsed, yet in front of you I can't speak.

Those searching eyes suddenly upon me,
And my heart dashes toward my feet.
Forlornly I realise that your love for me is fragile,
And as I make my way toward your door - I long for you to hold me.

Walking from the crime scene I feel somehow disorientated,
And my friends tell me that my wounds will heal in time.
Perilously struggling with indecision, I call you and apologise,
But still I wonder how many hours we will give ourselves before we start to burn.

And in the quiet indigo of night, we set ourselves alight.
