The homeless meal went well today, in spite of the continual rain and the unrelenting attacks from the Mayor!

We served 110 homeless people a hot meal today. They were happy despite the constant rain, and the hot food was enjoyed!

We setup an extra canopy, so the homeless could get in out of the rain.

We moved our roasters together too, and gained more dry space for them to use. They liked the table space too....

There was enough weather today that we had to tie the canopies to our vehicles, so they stayed put.

The generators ran well in the rain, but we should cover them if this begins to happen more often.

20200223_153709.jpg

We have a 9000 watt generator on the tongue of the trailer, so we don't have to move it every time.

The Chicken Alfredo began life, as penne pasta. Here is 32 quarts of pasta in my favorite pasta pot!

Here are the spare drink containers, we didn't need because of the rain.

This trailer has been a real help, allowing us to get all the equipment on site safely. It is a real blessing!

I have been wanting to show a little behind the scenes to give you an idea of what is required. Here is the same trailer being reloaded after serving.

Generators load by rolling up the ramp.
20200223_165303.jpg

All the generators loaded, and we are loading tables through the front door.
20200223_165251.jpg

The chicken stew, chicken alfredo, chili, macaroni and cheese, scalloped potatoes, spaghetti, macaroni salad, green bean casserole, and hot coffee; filled everyone up!

We packaged the leftovers to go to the Denver House, so they will be put to good use.

It was a good day, except for the incessant rain. It is good to be dry and warm again, LOL! One more successful hot meal, and we were allowed to be GOD's hands once more; I am humbled and happy...and tired.

Glad it all worked out well even with the rain. I like the folding ramp for the trailer :-)

We added the ramp, because the generators are HEAVY!

For the problems we had today, the turnout was good. The rain picked up about an hour after we left, we were blessed!

We take care of their worldly needs, and answer their heavenly questions.

We pray with them when they ask, because until they ask, they are not receptive.

It doesn't represent Christ well, if they are Forced to listen in exchange for food. But, when you take care of their needs, and treat them with respect; it opens their heart to Christ. We have ministers there but we all answer any questions.

I fed one Man for five years, before he opened up to me. If I had pushed earlier, I would have driven him off.

I appreciate my volunteers! They came in the cold and rain, just to help these people. Five of them bring a roaster of food, and that unloads me to concentrate on the main course. Several have been helping over 5 years!

I am trying to find another full crew, so we can do this a second time every month, in another place. We'll see on that.

So you guys get everything you need in the trailer, except the food? What did you mean by restaurant style? Were you the waiter?

The food is intended to be as good as you can buy from a restaurant. We don't make it on the cheap!

All the equipment is in the trailer, and all the food comes in by car.

I usually balance the generator load...easier than training someone how to calculate loading. I also chase any problems, because I know where things are kept.

I delegate as much as I can, and that is beginning to help on loading some. There are 7 kitchens cooking this food, including one church kitchen. The more I can delegate the safer this meal becomes.

I may step in from of a bus accidentally some time; and they will still need food....

Sir smithlabs! "The safer the meal becomes?" You mean no one can be trusted?

No originally, if I couldn't make it, there was no food. With 7 kitchens, there would still be a hot meal for them, if that happened!
