My Actifit Report Card: January 20 2020
Yesterday I spent a lot of time thinking about centralized streaming platforms and distributors like Distrokid. I've received a message from them basically saying that some of my tracks have been rejected by the stores and that I need to find another distributor. No explanation. No warning. No context. Nothing. I've read that this is happening to people but never thought I would be touched by this. I presumed if I do original work, don't steal from anyone, I'd be OK. Wrong.
I've also read that Distrokid has been closing down many user's accounts and blocking them from transferring their already earned royalties. Not sure how this will apply to my case.
All of this coincided with the time when my stream stats were starting to get traction and were dramatically increasing week after week on Spotify. Seems like centralized platforms don't really want artists to prosper from their work.
What are the guarantees I'll switch to another distributor and my music won't be rejected again? Seems like decentralized censorship resistant blockchains like Steem is the future. My content is there forever or until blockchain disintegrates.
