SPOTLIGHT ON THE ARTIST Episode 49

1.

Zig ( @onemedia ) and Denise ( @d-vine ) opened the show talking about how so many artists who have appeared on Spotlight On The Artist are from Germany and that it was inevitable that we would feature German artists, thus inspiring a quick listen to the tune called 'Inevitable'.

2.

Then we listened to the most recent collaborative efforts of Jeff Leinwand ( @jeffleinwand ) and Brian McGuire ( @hilladigahackles ) as the ensemble, 'Mental Zoolarious', their tune called, Summer With Patrick and we talked about its theme. Although the overall sound of this tune is uplifting, the subject is about a friend who committed suicide. Unfortunately Brian McGuire ( @hilladigahackles ) could not appear for this interview, but we did talk about an event planned for January 11, 2020 in Karlsruhe, Germany, called the Live Life Celebration where Mental Zoolarious is scheduled to play. This conversation started at 9:58 into the show.

3.

LFO-ONE ( @bushradio ) came back this week to Spotlight On The Artist to present a tune called, 'In the balance (In der Schwebe)'. Zig noted how the music of LFO-ONE ( @bushradio ) in the way it 'evolves' especially reminds us of the old school Berlin electronic music, such as Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schulz, Manuel Göttsching, Ashra Temple, etc. Some of the names for this style includes 'Space Music' or 'Head Music' and in the U.S. two radio syndicates that play this style of electronic music are "STAR'S END" Ambient Radio and "Hearts of Space". Then we spoke a bit about his hometown of Kiel and what a great time it would be to visit as part of a tour including the Live Life Celebration. This conversation started starting at 41:37 into the show.

4.

Raven ( @raven ) returned to Spotlight On The Artist for the fifth time according to her count. She alluded to a collaboration she is working on with Newenx then presented the results of a collaboration with an artist called Fish Filet, a tune called, 'Lass Uns Durchbrennen [with fish filet]'. She described how the meaning is about 'Running Away' as if to elope with a lover or to get away from difficult life circumstances. She also shared the joke she had at the time of the recording, expressing excessive modesty on her part, comparing her effected vocals at the beginning of the tune to a particular style of German folk music called Schlager. Rest assured we vehemently opposed any comparison of her work to this style of music. She also spoke a bit about her meditation music offering that she's marketing under the project name Binaural Concept. She further explained that while she enjoys her work with Binaural Concept, she's looking toward devoting more time to her other forms of original music. Both Raven ( @raven ) and Denise ( @d-vine ) spoke extensive about a song contest both Raven and D-Vine have entered. Her interview starts at 1:11:39 into the show.

5.

Miss eFeMBy & Rico Pundrich came today, although Miss eFeMBy has been on Spotlight On The Artist in the past, this was first time for Rico Pundrich. Then we immediately noted that Rico Pundrich has had experience with his own radio show featuring a variety of music, thus his ease with this interview. As part of his background he described how his first love was piano, but his parents gave him a blockflöte and lessons which did not inspire him. As many, if not most German school children learn blockflöte this provided a great source of humor throughout the interview. In fact, one may say that it was Inevitable that blockflöte would end up on a D-Vine & Zig tune. After joking around about the blockflöte, we went ahead and listened to the remix, 'JUST SO BEAUTIFUL (EFEMBY'S HEARTBEAT RMX)'.

Immediately following the remix, we played the original track by Rico Pundrich, 'Just So Beautiful'. Rico Pundrich then described his artistic process and then he and Miss eFeMBy described how they met over the internet. Miss eFeMBy then described her 'radio' podcast, 'Techno Diaries' and her premiere show on 31, July. Their interview starts at 1:47:56 into the show.

6.

PulpStereo then came back to Spotlight On The Artist for the first time since Episode 42 and we talked about how he came back from vacation and immediate worked on multiple releases with multiple collaborators. We discussed his itinerary as a professional musician and his ensembles and live collaborators. We talked a bit about visiting Stuttgart as part of the tour including the event planned for January 11, 2020 in Karlsruhe, Germany, called the Live Life Celebration. Then he presented his recent collaboration with Zig ( @onemedia ), a tune called, 'Symbols'. The conversation then turned to how this tune defies categorization, not fitting neatly into any one genre. The entire conversation started at 2:41:27 into the show.

Next PulpStereo presented another one of his tunes called "Don't Talk On The Dancefloor" which Winkandwoo did a remarkable job of adding vocals and remixing in a short order of time after the original instrumental version was released. Afterwards much of the conversation that ensued centered around how successful the results were when Winkandwoo gathered the courage and followed-through on the impulse to add vocals in his remix, and how much his vocal work is welcomed and to do that again whenever his instincts guide that.

Next we played the instrumental original version of "Don't Talk, Do It" giving an overall effect of an extended jam from one version to the next. Much of the rest of the conversation focused on which instruments to bring for visiting Stuttgart as part of the tour including the event planned for January 11, 2020 in Karlsruhe, Germany, called the Live Life Celebration.
