Are you entitled to my comments?

Certainly no. I guess you know that already, so why are you complaining about it?

I came across a comment not too long ago where the commenter complained so bitterly about how selfish and greedy steemians are for sharing only their posts and engaging with little or no one. I do find some of the things we complain strange but thinking about it deeply it might not seem so because I think every one of us here thinks we are doing something worthwhile worthy of attention.

I hardly comment on posts and I do not expect a ton load of comments either. I do spend a lot of time on the steem blockchain. In fact, it is an early morning ritual for me to browse through my feed searching for interesting posts and opportunities. Yesterday I read about 10 posts and commented on none. Why? Well, it's quite simple: I have little or nothing to add to the conversation.

Before the last hardfork, engage was pretty high. We still had a large number of active users. That number reduced after the hardfork and the incentive to comment was reduced as well. Fewer people saw the need to upvote good comments because of the tweak to the reward system and many people just stopped commenting. Would I classify that as greed? No. People were basically incentivized to comment, most of which were merely reiterations of points and ideas already highlighted by the author of the post. Ordinarily, people would not comment on the post. A good example would be videos on YouTube. You can come across a video with a million views with less than a thousand comments. It doesn't mean a significant number of the viewers did not enjoy the video. I do not think I have left a comment on YouTube, we'll except cases where I am commenting on other dtubers videos.

How do I appreciate the content I like without commenting?

Upvote. Yes, I manually upvote. Well, I guess since I do not have that much steempower an upvote for me wouldn't count as something. I consider the fact that the value of our upvote varies a downside to our steem economy or ecosystem.

Resteem. For someone who doesn't have that much steempower I think the best way to show an author that you find his or her post interesting or useful is by resteeming. I think this function will become a very powerful tool when the steem ecosystem grows larger in the coming years. It is one of the effective ways of sharing content on steem without duplicity. It gives a newly discovered author the chance to be seen by more people and grow their audience.

Share. If I find your post interesting chances are I will share them on my twitter page. But first of all, it has to be something the outside world can relate to--that's the major difficulty here-- Most of the posts here are steemcentric (most of my posts are steemcentric). I am hoping with the launch of communities a lot of us, including myself, will change some of our posting habits.

Now, if you do value comments or feedbacks a lot maybe it's about time you engage more. I believe the more you engage with other the likelihood they will be willing to reciprocate. It would also pay off if you begin to align with the realities of steem. Study those who get more engagement on their post, what they post about. If it's something you can do as well then by all means do--even better. Network with more people on the blockchain and just maybe you might gain the type of attention you want.

The beautiful thing about steem is that it rewards your passion. Most authors or content creators do not have the intention of garnering many views. Creating content is an enriching process that nourishes the creator and there is a place for such persons on steem. The beautiful thing about being true to the process of creating art or content you love is that people somehow recognize it as well and you end up getting what you never asked for--an audience.
