Pokemon Go: May 21 Community Day Event Details

Niantic has announced the star Pokémon of the next community day event in May. Swablu, the Cotton Bird Pokemon from Generation Three and the Hoenn Region will be the featured Pokémon and spawn more often during the event Saturday May 15, 2021. Niantic continues to mix up the featured Pokemon after its prior approach that was more predictable. This will be of interest to PvP players as Swablu has been a player favorite for battles.

As usual the community day event will last for six hours and will be on a Saturday this time around but from 11am to 5pm local times. The reward during the event will be a 1/4 hatch distance bonus for incubators. In addition, Mega Altaria will be making its debut in Mega Raids at the conclusion of the event. Given the amount needed to evolve this Pokemon, this provides another good source of candy.

As usual, you will have a chance to encounter the shiny form of the Pokémon Swablu in increased probabilities during the event. Also, the special move Moonblast will be gained from evolving Swablu to Altaria up to two hours after the event has been announced. It will be interesting to see how much interest this gets from the community this month. Good luck and catch ‘em all!
