I was pleasantly surprised this week when I picked up my mail and found a great item I have been expecting for some time now. I received by 2019 1 oz Silver Steem Round! I have to admit that it is even more beautiful that it seems in pictures and having it in your hand is a great way to feel the tangible value of things despite how much intangibles are growing in value these days! I was honored with the opportunity to be a judged in a contest a couple of months ago which gifted me this for my participation. It was a great surprise but it has gotten me thinking of the timing of it all.

I have been looking at how my engagement should evolve for some time now here on Steem. While it has been relatively poor in the last couple of months, I have not been too far away by posting daily and consuming a good amount of content as well. Given the recent boost the markets have given Steem, the resurgence of engagement has been visible which is great to see. I feel like the arrival of the Silver Steem Round is signaling my need to increase my engagement once again. However, I am looking for it to be relevant to the growth of the communities I enjoy so it will be relatively targeted to a number of them.

Also, even before the arrival of the Silver Steem Round, I have been also planning my yearly purchases of Precious Metals. The great feeling I got from holding the Round and showing it to my daughter while we added it to our Collection was fun. There is a rather large "Stacking" community here on Steem and I think it will surely be a space where I want to engage in the future with. As part of my participation, I have been part of the Discord groups and have enjoyed the sense of community that is Steem Silver Gold (@ssg-community). I am slowing reading and seeing what it takes to be an integral part of the Community as my interest in precious metals continues to grow every day as I add to my portfolio in the coming weeks.

While it may not be something I can post about daily or even weekly, it is certainly a community that is fun to participate in. I also think that given a lot of the economic volatility we have seen amidst the uncertainty, it could also be another interesting decade for the asset class; much like 2000 - 2010. Unfortunately, I am not an expert on much of the subject except the importance of conserving capital by preserving value over time. After all, Gold has been a currency for all of recorded history and 5,000 years!

I always look for signs as opportunities pass us by on a daily basis. Only opportunities we act on can give us the potential to realize goals and value over time so why not keep trying until something arises? I will be looking into the subject some more as both Steem and Metals have risen in my attention these days. I look forward to seeing where it ultimately takes me as I know that going down rabbit holes is typically quite adventurous for me!
