News that misinforms - Noticias que desinforman
While I was having breakfast, I watched a news channel on television that spoke, of course, of the pandemic and the second wave that is beginning to affect all of South America, focusing on Brazil, a country that is going through the worst health crisis in its history. In the morning news, a journalist commented on the changes that the government of the city of Buenos Aires is making in bus stops to try to avoid the lack of social distancing that occurs both below, in the access queues to buses and above, since in addition to the 20 seated passengers that on average they have in this public transport, another 10 are unemployed. The aforementioned journalist said that passengers had to "lower" (SIC) the windows to allow greater air circulation, this would not be bad except for the detail that the groups do not have windows that can be lowered, the vast majority, attending to In these times they have air conditioning equipment, they just have small sliding windows very close to the roof of the vehicle that are far from the transported, precisely to prevent them from opening them and if they lose the precious refrigerated air. Surely the lady she travels a lot by car and little by bus and no one warned him of her mistake.
Earlier a very prestigious journalist from our country announced a large increase in BTC ¿? Because Visa had started accepting payments in that cryptocurrency. He finished off his inaccurate information by saying that there were already BTC ATMs in the United States. I met a BTC ATM here in Buenos Aires and even published an article on my blog a couple of years ago, there I found out that at that time there were already in this small (economically speaking) country more than a dozen of these ATMs. The journalist was somewhat uninformed, which would be nothing if he did not transmit it to his large audience.
They are just two examples of the many that happen daily and here I make a clarification, there are other worse cases, those that deliberately misinform, accommodating the news to their political or economic convenience.
The news of Visa has been circulating for a long time and there are already companies that have made agreements with that card to pay for goods and services with convertible cryptocurrency funds. Paypal today announces a cryptocurrency payment service that covers 29 million merchants. There are national and private banks working for a long time on the implementation of blockchain, some planning to create their own central bank digital currencies, there are the purchase and sale of real estate and even investment, retirement, and pension funds. Everyone is accepting that cryptocurrencies are here to stay and become an important asset.
Journalism, in general, should pay more attention to what happens around them, many around here say that politicians live in their bubbles very far from people and that is why we are doing as we are doing. And in your house, how are they? My grandmother would say.
Mientras desayunaba veía en la televisión un canal de noticias que hablaba, por supuesto, de la pandemia y de la segunda ola que está comenzando a afectar a toda Sudamérica haciendo eje en Brasil, país que está atravesando la peor crisis de salud de su historia. En el noticiero matutino una periodista comentaba sobre los cambios que el gobierno de la ciudad de Buenos Aires está realizando en las paradas de colectivos para tratar de evitar la falta de distanciamiento social que se produce tanto abajo, en las colas de acceso a los colectivos como arriba, dado que además de los 20 pasajeros sentados que en promedio tienen en este transporte público, otros 10 parados. La mencionada periodista decía que los pasajeros debían “bajar” (SIC) las ventanillas para permitir una mayor circulación de aire, esto no estaría mal sino por el detalle de que los colectivos no tienen ventanillas que se puedan bajar, la gran mayoría, atendiendo a que en estos tiempos tienen equipos de aire acondicionado, apenas tienen muy cerca del techo del vehículo unas pequeñas ventanas corredizas que están alejadas de los transportados, precisamente para evitar que estos las abran y si pierda el preciado aire refrigerado. Seguramente la señora viaja mucho en automóvil y poco en colectivo y nadie le advirtió del error.
Más temprano un periodista muy prestigioso de nuestro país anunciaba un gran aumento del BTC ¿? Debido a que Visa había comenzado a aceptar pagos en esa criptomoneda. A su información poco exacta la remató diciendo que en Estados Unidos ya había cajeros automáticos de BTC. Yo conocí un cajero de BTC aquí en Buenos Aires e incluso publiqué un artículo en mi blog hace ya un par de años, allí me enteré que en ese momento ya había en este pequeño (económicamente hablando) país más de una decena de esos cajeros. Un tanto desinformado el periodista lo cual no sería nada si no lo trasmitiera a su gran audiencia.
Son solo dos ejemplos de los muchos que pasan a diario y aquí hago una aclaración, hay otros casos peores, los que desinforma adrede, acomodando la noticia a su conveniencia política o económica.
La noticia de Visa hace tiempo que está circulando e inclusive ya existen empresas que han hecho acuerdos con esa tarjeta para pagar bienes y servicios con fondos convertibles de criptomonedas. Paypal anuncia justamente hoy un servicio de pago con criptomonedas que abarca 29 millones de comercios. Hay bancos, nacionales y privados trabajando desde hace tiempo en la implementación de blockchain, algunos planteando crear sus propias monedas digitales de banco central, hay compra y venta de inmuebles y hasta fondos de inversión, de jubilaciones y de pensión. Todo el mundo está aceptando que las criptomonedas han llegado para quedarse y convertirse en un activo importante.
El periodismo en general debería prestan mayor atención a lo que ocurre a su alrededor, muchos por aquí dicen que los políticos viven en sus burbujas muy alejados de la gente y por eso nos va como nos va. ¿y por casa como andamos? Diría mi abuela.
