Quick Reminder, What FOG Means To Me!
As we are near our 2 year anniversary at Friends Of Gondor (FOG), I wanted to give a quick reminder of what the project is about.
FOG was started to help the Stewards of Gondor, who once upon a time were a group of awesome people that did their thing to help make the Steemit world a better place to be. Each of these Stewards was handpicked by @fulltimegeek, and then each were given ALL of his SP. Yes that's right, all of @fulltimegeek's SP was delegated out to his Stewards so that they could reach farther, fairer, and build something special on Steemit. The Stewards were expected to "be giving" and to reward good things they saw on our awesome social platform.
Then the battles began and the "Flag War" was started. @fulltimegeek got tired (as most of the little peeps like me did as well) of the abuse of "POWER" by some of the big people. I won't get into who and why, but I will say that FTG realized that someone with size had to fight back. So he waged battle against the abuse, and thus had to remove his delegations from the Stewards to fight what he thought was a more worthwhile battle. So while the Stewards were still awesome, they suffered individually in their abilities to help others as they indirectly were in the fights too.
So Friends of Gondor was started to be a community account that solely upvotes the Stewards to show our support. 91 weeks ago we had no idea how long it would go or if people would support the project, but the bottom line is this has always been a project to support the "IDEA of what the Stewards stood for" and of course the appreciation to them and @fulltimegeek for all they do. We haven't missed a day of voting (other than the hardfork days), and while the Stewards have dwindled, we continue to show support to the remaining diehards.
While much has changed since the project was started, one thing is clear as a bell in my mind. @fulltimegeek was right in the way he thought a community should be built, and many of the issues he raised were clearly warning signals that should've been listened to by the people that did have power. I believe upon reflection that many wish they would've listened more, but you can't go back in time (only forward!).
So we will continue to support @fulltimegeek and his Stewards as long as Steemit is around; its that simple.
On the stats, we should be up another 2+ Steem on the post when it closes tomorrow (I was late last week). Of course thank you to all the regular post voters along with @fulltimegeek. Also since last week was delayed then some of the donations fell into that post from @abh12345 and @bashadow. (so they deserve recognition even though technically their donations fell into last week's post). For the week then, we did have 1 donation from the always lucid @preparedwombat (2 Steem), who I've come to find out is a "servant of the Secret Fire, wielder of the flame of Anor". :) I'm always excited to read your memos each week @preparedwombat and this one was even more descriptive as it revealed just why you are so awesome! :D Thank you!!!

I will have to be cutting back to 1 Steem for the next few weeks, or more, I want to help out @steemchiller some also, so in conjunction with my sending FOG a steem, I will be forwarding one to him also. I am just not a consistent enough earner of steem to forecast having a few extra and still grow myself, so I hope you and everyone understands the cutback. HF 20/21 SPS has like the EIP and down vote fallen by the wayside. I hope these are only stumbling blocks, but I really do not see them as that. I will of course still be here on steem, still posting away in the hopes of brighter days.
Hey @bashadow... You never EVER need to worry about what me or anyone thinks... Anyone that knows you, knows that you are one of the most generous giving people in the world (more than just Steemit). Of course you can cut back... you could cut back to 0 forever and still you'd still be in the top donor/supporter for a long long time. I told you before that you, @abh12345, and @preparedwombat have gone above and beyond everyone else and that's never forgotten! So never worry about anything, you are always good in my eyes!!!
ps... I don't even know about 20/21 SPS and EIP stuff... They lost me when they made the 1000 SP and lower people's vote worthless. I wish they would fix it, but something tells me that new "ownership" needs to come in and shake up the rules. IMO, if they want "more people" then they will need owners that can grasp what the "more people" want. (hint: its not downvotes on their stuff and no vote value of their own)
I just wanted to let you and others know that I have not given up on the FOG, but I wanted to help steemchiller out also, and like you know our votes, even though our SP levels have risen, continue to get flushed down the toilet.
So far none of the ideas from the "Right Thinking" crowd have done anything to bolster the on-boarding or the value retention of Steem. Perhaps one day they will learn to listen to the actual users, the readers, perusers of content, or creators of content, and learn from them what is working and what is not working. I honestly do believe until they fix the down vote issue the fate of steem will always be just a niche place, and when the investors see the lack of content then they will go elsewhere also, likely to the next place people are trying to build the social block chain.
It is time for them to take their pretend psychology hats off, and just ignore the doctors and do what is right, and that starts with fixing the down vote. If some one just has to down vote a post then they should leave themselves wide open for retaliation if they down vote for an unjustified reason in the minds of the other users.
I completely agree. Its really pretty simple, but for some reason many in charge don't see it.
