Basketball is the most loved sport in the Philippines. Ever since I was a child, I already developed a love for the sport. Although I did try out for our high school's varsity team, it was only during my fourth year that I got into the team - our volleyball team that is.

Last July 8 marked another event in Philippine's basketball history. It concluded one of the country's basketball league for charity - UNTV Cup's PBA Legends Faceoff. 2 million pesos was given to the PBA Legends Foundation - an institution looking to take care of retired PBA players.

Four famous teams battled it out during in the elimination round:

  1. San Miguel Beermen
  2. Alaska Aces
  3. Purefoods
  4. Ginebra Gin Kings

But eventually, it was the San Miguel Beermen and the Alaska Aces who fought for the title. It was very nostagical watching them. They reminded me of my childhood. And even though they have aged, you can still see their skills of being a pro.

Here were the highlights of the game:

I watched the telecast from the battle for third until the championship game.

It was really heart warming to see them play. It's really nice to see sports role models still playing it out for the benefit of their fellow players. Not only for their own, but for the benefit of others. One comment stuck with me from Mr. Kiko Adriano - he missed playing it out in front of the fans.
