Burning Out! No SplinterLands and barely Steeming for the last week.

A lot is often said about working online from the comfort of your own home, especially that it is not a real job or it is a lazy way of earning money, or that it doesn't have any security. While I do agree with the latter, the current state of the job market in Kenya and possibly the entire world shows that people are getting laid off with a high degree.

Now, when I can only speak about the situation in my country and the circumstances that have led a majority of graduates to choose to make a living online, I am sure a bunch of you can possibly relate to this.

Income sometimes is never that consistent but if you have your act together and are managing a low cost lifestyle, whether it is buying a vehicle with good fuel economy, renting and affordable house and possibly not considering starting a family before you have some good savings, you are probably doing well for yourself.

However, one thing that people often forget is that the work, despite it not being physically straining, takes a toll mentally. The funny thing is that you personally don't even realize when the burnout is setting in. You probably see the signs but are too focused on hitting your daily goals to even stop and rest.

For me, it started with a lack of appetite and feeling sleepy at weird hours of the day. Those two things compounded make for a horrible result. One minute you are sharp and focused, the next you can barely concentrate and finishing simple tasks becomes even more strenuous than normal.

When you couple this with other commitments such as long drives to family events and gatherings, an unfortunate loss of a loved one and education commitments then an already stressed mind begins to shut down at awkward times.

When I say awkward, I do mean awkward. Imagine trying to keep your eyes open at a funeral of a loved one. I literally teleported back to the capital on the passenger seat of the vehicle I was in.

While finding time to take breaks and still make sure you are keeping to a work schedule is difficult, naturally the only way out is to snap out of the schedule and do something different.

Sleep as much as possible, eat healthy, drink lots of water, avoid TV and your computers or using your phone as much. These are things that I was forced to do this past week meaning that I have not had as much time to play Splinterlands or even post as much as I would like on Steem or Sports talk social.

I hate to admit that I also took the current situation at Manchester United a bit to personally at great risk to my own health. It is quite aggravating to watch something you love managed so incompetently and with so much impunity.

I cannot wait for Christmas to come around when I can retire to clean fresh air, trees and the bountifulness of our rural home. Fresh fruits straight from the fields, vegetables in the kitchen garden, plenty of fresh milk and meat to fill our bellies. It is the one time of the year that you actually look forward to with a lot of expectation.

But since that is still a month away, the best way to let my mind recover is to continue working on sleeping at the right time and for 8 or more hours, eating more vegetables which I admittedly rarely do and mainly keeping off the internet except when I need to work. Late night movie binges have been cancelled.

Anyway, have you ever experienced a mental burn out before? Let me know how you were able to recover from it and help one or two people reading this.

I am sitting tired and exhausted after a long day in front of my computer, playing Splinterlands and planning this one more video I want to do, feeling like I have the responsibility of doing so. Now, reading your eloquent post, I realize I deserve my sleep. Thanks for allowing me some dreams tonight.

I have send you Kobold Miner, to motivate you to keep up the grind and because my upvote is worth so little.

Honestly I am happy to hear that you are taking a break. I am a workaholic and spend too much time on the computer working and researching new things and you tend to underestimate the value of a good night's rest. Take that much needed break and come back more energetic than you are at the moment.

Also, the Kobloid Miner is massively appreciated. All the best with end of season on Splinterlands. :)
