Solid Saturday which was basically a grind with medium-sized pre-game positions and small middle or hedge bets to reduce the risk along the way. I haven't had all too many big bets yet and I'm not planning to force anything. Only when I see a clear situation I'm getting myself into them. Another busy Sunday with 4 matches from 13:30 to 22:30 straight.
Genk vs Club Brugge
Genk played very structured and were ok in defense last week away against Standard while not showing enough quality when having the ball. The week before at home, they played against a defensive OHL and were very vulnerable on the counter also having trouble creating much themselves. They have not taken a loss yet but I have them marked as a potentially overrated team. Club Brugge so far took two 0-1 home losses and a 0-4 away win and have not been all that good with some of their key players like Vanaken being out of form. They do however still have a high-quality team with a solid defense and are still the number 1 contender for the title. I expect this to be a match where Genk will again play defensively trying to break out on the corner while Club Brugge tries to break the defense. I do expect a motivated start from the visitors who need to get the win to stay in reach with the top. The big question is if they can find their form which should show from the in-game match picture. Looking at attempts on Target there is a gap with Club Brugge having an average so far of 5.7 with 2.3 against while the statistics from Genk show 3.7 for and 4 against. I did take a bet on
Club Brugge 1st Half +0 @ 1.724 with an eye to take more live. I also took a small pre-game position on
Under 2.75 @ 2.00 and won't hesitate to hedge out if needed.
Beerschot vs Standard
Beerschot has been the revelation of the season so far and are deserved in 1st place after taking 9 on 9. Their defense is solid while they have scoring options in the attack. Standard has not impressed whatsoever and right now and it feels like they are mostly valued on the betting market based on their name. They will be without Dastiend and Amallah who are both important while Vanheusden will be back in defense after his suspension. I took an early bet last week on
Beerschot +0.25 @ 1.947 last week right after having seen a poor Standard performance followed by a good Beerschof performance. I expected this price to go down but instead, it has gone up a bit since with the odds now sitting at 2.00 which makes me more cautious. I'm keeping my pre-game bet for now and will see how this one plays out live.
Charleroi vs Antwerp
Charleroi right now can very much be compared to last season playing very organized striking on the counter and taking a narrow win. Antwerp played their best match of the season in the cup against Club Brugge where they played defensive striking on the counter themselves. Last week, they also showed to be solid defensively. I do expect this match to play out in a way where both teams are afraid of the counter taking little to no risk at least at the start of the match. I have 2 good sized pre-game positions in this match. The first on
1st Half Under 1 @ 1.99 and on the 2nd on
Antwerp +0.5 @ 1.729 with the aim to keep most of the stake in place during the match unless what I see forces me to get out.
AA Gent vs KV Mechelen
AA Gent also is a struggling team with a lot of work as they haven't managed to compensate for David leaving and Odidja is also out. They are last in the league with 0 on 9 and are lacking confidence. Despite all this, they do have the quality players in their team and a strong bench. KV Mechelen has been ok ad played good 1st halves in all 3 of their matches so far. I do expect them to go for it and not just lay back trying on the counter. AA Gent their new coach puts more focus on defense but they also should just go for it this match to take the win. interesting match for sure and I'm keeping all betting action for in-game. My eye will be on the 1st Half over and possibly the over in corners.
