This Happened: At a Family Reunion... My Uncle Asked me If I'd Heard of Dtube!

Hey guys!

This story was too good not to share. I was at a family reunion last week where I saw a lot of family members I haven't seen in a long time. We were getting together for my grandma's 80th birthday.

I got to chatting with my favorite uncle on the topic of investments, gold politics and other such interesting topics. Somewhere he mentioned Jeff Berwick in the conversation and i was like... whhhaaa?. I told him I had gone to Anarchapulco this last year and we went down this super fun Anarchy tangent talking about all the people we like to follow in the movement.

It kind of blew his mind when I told him I would be speaking alongside the likes of Jeff Berwick and Lukewearechange at Anarchadelphia! (ps... it's going to be a crazy, epic, awesome event and you should totally come. Check out the website HERE and use the code Lea to get a discount. Also - you can follow @stateofanarchy and @illucifer for details and updates.

Okay... back to the story. The conversation moved to crypto and he mentioned how sad he was to see awesome, anarchist creators getting demonetized - simply for calling sh*t out. I was about to ask him if he'd heard of Steem and he literally asked me if I had heard of @dtube because it seemed like a good decentralized solution for these creators.

How crazy is that??? Umm... I guess I've heard of it. 😂

I showed him my channel, the @steemsistershow and how long I'd been using the platform. This whole conversation was just the craziest intersection of things. It's pretty rare I run into people in my everyday life who know about all this stuff and are stoked to talk about it - let alone an Uncle at a family reunion!

I thought you guys would enjoy this story and had to share! I hope we all have stories like this soon where at family reunions we have our uncles, grandmas and cousins asking us if we've heard of Dtube, Palnet, @appics, @actifit or any of the other awesome dapps that use our blockchain.

XO, Lea

Something similar happened to me last February. With my family, we host an Airbnb unit and some guys who rented our place are founders of a Blockchain Academy here in Mexico, they give courses about Blockchain for Businesses, for Lawyers and for developers. At the beginning of June I attended an event that they had in offices of Google in Mexico City.

Haha that must have so surreal but a positive sign for the future ahead. Once he ventures in, he will see there is a whole ecosystem to play with. I am in the process of onboarding some surf photographer friends here in Lobitos, Peru. I delegated to Steem ninja and I get to mine their INVITE tokens. One of those and one can instantly create a wallet and I think with some delegation for a bit too.

Thank you for this wonderful video and I'm pretty sure you had an awesome conversation with your uncle about Steem and all. Having Steem meetups are already fun and exciting, what more the uncle! Haha

I've also shared your post in the Steem Malaysia Community Page on Facebook, hoping to give you the extra exposure because of its good content.

I hope by doing this, more content creators/bloggers/vloggers will get to know this wonderful platform we both thrive in. :)

Keep creating awesome content!

It is starting to get known. I have not had too much luck, trying to bring people to this blockchain, but I keep trying!

Keep up the good work! What's been super interesting as I've been getting involved in the greater crypto space is how many people know about Dtube and think it is cool... it's been great.

I guess the word for Steem is slowly spreading when you're starting to hear of it from your family members :D

I'm still waiting for that to happen to me, I don't think South African's even though they know about Bitcoin aren't really getting into the alt world as yet! I hope they do eventually so I can have my moment like this and brush it off like i'm not a STEEM fan boy lol

It will happen one day! Even here in the states I meet TONS of people who have never heard of bitcoin... which seems crazy considering how many times it is in the news...

Lol awesome. How did he not see you on Dtube?!?! 100% new level. That's great haha. Why didnt this one post on dtube? Did you upload straight to PAL? Can you do a video talking about PAL I'm still kinda confused about why....

hahah I know right?? I don't think he's browsing Dtube much - but specifically watching a few people he likes such as Jeff Berwick and Luke Rudkowski etc. :)

Also... This should have showed up on Dtube... have you upgraded and claimed your new account yet? I used their link posting functionality for this video - which may be why it looks a little different.

In the new Dtube - you can only choose one tag from a list they have already selected for you - and so I often choose Palnet so it can post on that site as well.

I did a full PALnet review post that you may find helpful if you are still trying to figure that platform out. Here's the link:
