If you find spam on PALnet...
The time has come to explain exactly what the Latin phrase on the coin means. Roughly, it says, "Do no harm, take no shit." To be more specific the second part says "You'll take no shit" Now that we've got the subtleties out of the way, let's talk about why this is our motto and what to expect when attempting to do harm on PALnet. This is where @nopal4u comes in, because while we are a liberty and peace oriented group, voluntarism should never be mistaken for pacifism .
We're monitoring and hunting for spam to keep PALnet from mirroring the current state of steemit and to stop people from wrecking the economy in a similar fashion by gaming the rewards pool. When we see people making multiple accounts and creating botnets and one-man circle jerks of spammy garbage or plagiarism, they'll get nuked (some sooner than later). Why should this matter to you?
Everyone gets a free 100% downvote tied to their PAL stake every day. If you hold PAL and want it to retain value, it's just as much your job as any of ours to take out the trash. In fact, we'll even do one better. If you see abusive content (which yes is subjective) and don't have the power to flag it all the way down yourself, you can report it in our Discord server in the #msp-abuse-reporting channel. We'll review it and if we agree that it needs to go, we will help finish the job.
All of this works to keep the reward pool larger for legitimate users and hinders the ability of bad actors to devalue the token. We designed the rewards pool and power structure of PALnet this way specifically to empower the users and build a stronger community with more incentive to actually stake and hold tokens than many felt they ever had on steemit. Simply put, if you want something better, then we all have to work to build it. Much love. Do no harm, but take no shit.

I'm glad you're involved, it seems that we share a lot of the same philosophy and principles when it comes to the platform. Ultimately we need everyone to take/share ownership of the platform to make it work, but one of the reasons for the initial distribution to the mods was for this reason exactly. We've been tracking some, pretty easy to follow the coins and find the accounts doing it. It's going to get fun :)

It works just like voting, but instead of charging you voting power for the first flag, you get a free one per day. Only works on stuff that is or was tagged palnet, some people were trying to remove tags as a way to avoid it, but that don't work no more, got patched really quickly. :)

I think the one 100% downvote is a smart idea. However is it moderated? You know cuz some people on steemit like to flag people they simply dislike over and over again.
If things get too far out of hand, people can become completely excomunicado if need be. That's a last resort, but it does exist.

in order to upvote you on PAL do I have to do it only through PAL or if I upvote on steemit will it also upvote you on PAL?

It works across the whole blockchain. It just only allocates the PAL reward pool to posts with tag. You can use any of the STEEM sites, like this one!

Believe it or not, those who those who interact with me know that ”I just...can’t downvote.Just can’t...” but after reading this...it was probably the go for it injection I needed.
One of the biggest problems with STEEM is the lack of incentive most users feel to actually hold the tokens. We really wanted to reconcile that and there is a huge hurdle to overcome with getting people to feel comfortable with flagging, but even with STEEM, the next hardfork seems to be trying to address it. The thing is that flagging is just as important as voting, and while most people fear retaliation on steemit, we wanted to make it clear from the get-go that we want you all flagging spam. We're going to be doing it either way, but it really takes a community effort to keep things in check and ultimately it benefits all of us. Hopefully you give it a try, and if you need any guidance before hand, feel free to talk with us in the Discord and we'll review the content and join in if necessary.

One thing that might make it easier is that a downvote with PAL attached is priorisited for manual @nopal4u downvoting. Then the minnows might get more involved.

That's some interesting food for thought. I'm sure we could get an automated feed of downvoted content, I'm just curious how overwhelming it could get. I like the idea of getting minnows involved and that's why I'm making it clear that if they can help us find out, we'll help deal with it. I'll talk to the team and see how we can streamline this process and possibly add incentive. Of course that always opens up a new potential abuse channel, but perhaps picking some good "abuse hunters" and rewarding them with staked PAL would be a worthwhile pursuit. Certainly something to discuss with the team. Thanks for the idea!
Could throw some AI at it. Even a simple reputation system for doenvoters would help cut through the workload.

I think whatever should be the integration... if you are using an app that votes on the STEEM blockchain... you should get the same participation.
Although.. I would love an option been made available... to ALL apps... in regards to what Token to support when voting. This would make a lot more sense, ESPECIALLY to STEEM!
Any STEEM app (like partiko or esteem) will technically work, you just have to use the tag. I'd love to see one of those apps add support for Tribes, and who knows, after seeing the support that SteemPeak integrated, maybe it's coming. :)

It will still upvote or downvote on STEEM. Interestingly enough, the next hardfork for STEEM is going to have the same 50/50 rewards split and downvote pool. 🤔
Very nice motto on the coin/logo... short and to the point! I believe that PALNET is the way to go. Many wonderful initiatives the past few months have come to fruition from the PAL community. I am truly impressed!

The server has actually always been called PAL, it's just been home mostly to the Minnow Support Project until recently. We'd love to have you drop in and chat. It honestly is one of the best parts of the PAL community and why we are still here.
Thanks, I have had the name in various forms since probably 2005-2006 when I took inspiration from a fellow forum moderator for EVE Online's official forums. Eris Discordia. It wasn't until recently that I found out about the concepts behind it. I just thought it sounded cool.

Nuked as in banned? I don't really want to go back to having bans with social media .A lot of things can be done to encourage good . Remove earnings from posts would be one tiny thing , another have a specific page for flags where users can see the flags because when people get flagged during a normal browse they tend to flip out and ruins the experience / and the have negative thought about pal/steem/whatever they had the experience with . just my 0.02 tho.
It really truly will be a last resort, for those abusers who really just want to watch everything burn. We have seen what can happen if the really stubborn types want to abuse a system no matter what, as long as they profit. We have the ability to flat-out remove that profit.
I love that.. will keep it a cleaner shinier version of steem...

Understandable, but you should check them out on PALnet some time if you get the chance. It's a much different experience from steemit's trending/hot. :)

For now yes, but it's looking like in the next hardfork STEEM will have a free downvote pool too.
Free up to the exhaustion of the Downvote pool... which afterwards would consume from the normal rewards pool (just like now).
So, it will be interesting how people abuse or not of the downvote pool... I see bots will probably be constantly using this pool. So, how to solve that problem is already a concern to me.
