Steemit Open Mic Week 143 | Rêverie (Sept Offrandes) - Denis Bédard

(Edited)

This is my entry for Steemit Open Mic Week 143. I am playing 'Rêverie' from Sept Offrandes by Denis Bédard.

I decided to register this piece differently to what the composer intended as it wasn't so effective on my home organ. Instead of a Bourdon 8' as the accompaniment, I used String and Celeste 8's. The solo combination on the Great is an 8' + 2-2/3' instead of a solo 8' Flute. I think this worked out quite well. Let me know what you think :)

It sounds nice enough. Yet I wonder how it would sound with that 8' Flute, or an 8' Principal, possibly joined by a Gamba 8'. The last high note is a bit sharp, with just a 8' combination it could sound more ethereal, like a prayer, melting away when going up.

I switched to 8’ + 4’ Flutes at the end. Perhaps that was quite high for the end. There are so many options with a piece like this.

That's the beauty of organ music. One piece can be registered (registrated? what's the correct Enlish word?) in some many different ways with each time a different feel to the composition.
