Market Friday at Baguio City Public Market

WARNING: CONTAINS PHOTOS OF SLAUGHTERED/BUTCHERED ANIMALS AND FRESH CUT MEAT IN COLOR. PROCEED AT YOUR OWN DISCRETION.

It was still dark when I accompanied my sister to the city market. We had to go purchase for some stuff we needed for cooking. We had to go early to avoid the rush and so that we can start early and accomplish a lot.

We got there and I thought it would be less chaotic. I was wrong. It is the same as it is in anytime of the day at the market - busy, busy, busy. Only the minor alleys are almost empty.

The market is claustrophobic especially the main roads where traders/farmers load and unload their goods. Cars have to drive ever slowly and people had to watch where they are going. Everything is on the move, transactions everywhere.

We started with the colorful vegetable and fruit sections. Some vendors are still setting up while others seem to have never left.

I didn't know they added stalls in this part of the market. This used to be a blank space but another meat and fish stalls were added.

We did buy the fish that we needed here. Sea foods were imported from the lowlands mostly Pangasinan and La Union. Our mountains in return supply them with our vegetables.

We then headed to the wet market where fish and meat are supposed to be sold. Only then did I find out that the other level of fish and meat section is under repair. No wonder the other vendors were relocated some place else.

I used to see a lot of kids and adults alike selling plastic bags then. Now they are selling reusable bags. I commend this girl for even at this early time of the day she is there at the market selling bags.

Leaving you now with these woven baskets which I am sure are used for strawberries. It is the strawberry season now but still the price is high, cheaper during the off season but still pricey.

Who doesn't love to see what they will be selling in some foreign market, shopping in places I have never been to and some, never even heard of. I am always curious about foreign ingredients, different products that are being sold. So, yes! I would love to see you! We all do!! Don't forget to take photos wherever you happen to be shopping - whether it be the grocery, art galleries, or even a Flea Market, wherever money is exchanged for a service or for merchandise. Don't forget to use the hashtag #MarketFriday and @dswigle.

Please leave the link to your post here so it can easily be found by others. They will all be in one place!! Thank you!

How to Participate:

1. Go to the market! Any market will do! Food, Clothing, Plant or Animal, if you wish. You can go to the zoo or an art auction. Anywhere or anything that you pay money for a service. I once went to a nail salon.
2. Take pictures! Be creative (or not)
3. Tell us a little bit about the market, what brought you here?
4. Post the picture(s)
5. Don’t forget to hashtag it! #MarketFridayChallenge by @dswigle

It is always interesting to see the different markets around the globe! C’mon! Show me your market shots! I eagerly await them!

#MarketFriday loves you!

Upped and Steemed
