A surprise Christmas Party!

Look how happy the dog is!
The dog knows that Marian also put a bag of pellets for him in the bag.
They are volunteer car guards that live on tips to feed their families!

It is said that when you do good, leave your camera at home. But in the case of charities it is a different ball game, as how else would we drum up support for a good cause?
We simply have to get our name out there in the fight to survive and to continue with our work.
@papilloncharity have kept going for 18 years now against all odds and we are determined to continue.
These people are not criminals and they try their best to survive.

Imagine that your company closes down and you can't find other work. Especially if you have small children?

soy8pfkiqc.jpg

Would you and your wife stand at a traffic light with a board held on her chest with the words "Please Help" and "God Bless"?

j25itw6wzv.jpg

Would you scratch in dustbins for something to eat?

rg4o8l8fi0.jpg

Or collect plastic re-cycable items to sell for a meager amount?

zdtwdljgzn.jpg

Here's a guy off with his plastic items to the plastic recycling factory.

This guy is also a plastic and empty can collector!

What a dreary and poor life to lead!

I think she got kicked out from somewhere!

His disability walker also serves as a mobile home!

They are all people, just like you and us and just their circumstances are different from ours. The reason why they scare people is simply because people fear that this could happen to them. Another obvious reason is that some people have an inborn reluctance to give.

Next year is 2020, now listen to this. Papillon will be 19 years old and Marian and I will each have 20 years experience of charity work.
In our gratitude we now plan to host a surprise Christmas party for each of these struggling souls. We estimate that there are about 200 of them.

Are you in, or out?
I mean, would you support this worthy venture?

Thank you for your visit to @papilloncharity

I've actually often thought of that, too; what would happen if I was suddenly unable to provide for my family, what would happen to us? I don't have a support system nearby to lean on, and that could easily be us. It's a scary thought. I was unemployed once for about four weeks and I was scared.

Keep doing the good work! Someone needs to care.

Yep! You certainly know what it is my friend and it's always advisable to have a plan B. just in case.
In the late 70s I worked as a construction foreman and overnight the entire industry slumped resulting in many retrenchments. In fact the company that employed me closed down.
I was out of work for about 8 months whilst I studied high speed packaging, with a wife and 3 small children to support. Broke after the third month, but thankfully I had a few good friends that helped out.
Thankfully I was employed by a cigarette manufacturing company to work as a technician on their Italian and German packaging machines and I stayed there for 5 years whilst I built myself up again.
It is surely a life that no one wants and we simply have to help where we can.
Blessings!

It's not a nice thought but it has become a reality for some! Thank you for your work with these unfortunate people!

Thank you my dear friend.
We try Lady Lizelle, but it remains a struggle to stay afloat.
If I had my way, I would never put these posts out, but one consolation is that others might just try to do the same work.
And so, onward we go.
Blessings!

Of course we know JJ and thank you.
They do indeed have a sad and struggling life and that's why we want to treat them with some love and kindness with a surprise Christmas party in December.
Been a long time doing this and hope that we can continue indefinitely.
So great to see that you are taking the missus out for walks, as it can only do much good for her.
Hope that you guys have a good week my brother.
Blessings!

Ah! And we hear that more bad times are on the horizon due to the Eskom debacle. They are fighting for in court now to double the amount that we are paying for electricity.
Thank you for the kind words my friend.
Blessings!

Thanks for all the great work you and Lady Marion do, Sir Stephen. I am glad the weather stays fairly warm there as some of the people sleep outside. 💕

Every country is showing signs of strain with unemployed, helping for twenty years is quite a feat to say the least, being full time Stephen.

Will help in anyway I am able to.

What a pleasant surprise here Lady Joan.
You guys still at the Berg? You found a hotspot somewhere?
Thank you for always standing by us and I regard you as an integral part of the Papillon family.
Blessings and take care!

@papilloncharity - such heartrending photos can be seen all over the world, it's a tragedy to see homeless people when then there are so many who have so much and if each would just share a little, what a help that would be. It could happen to anyone for a variety of reasons. You and Marion do such good work - 20 years is just incredible.

"If each would just share a little" even the churches my dear friend.
How can they sing on a Sunday "It is well with my soul" as hundreds go to bed at night hungry?
I am not blaming anyone here, but many days we feel like we are fighting a losing battle. Apologies for the bit of down hearted ness, but today we moved among a bunch of very rich folks and it was tedious to listen to their talk. All about possessions, like they are going to live forever.
Blessings!

i come from a poor family and totally understand the struggles they are facing. Doing this for 19 years shows both of you have the kindest heart. I will try to help if able.

It is a healing for me to do this Lady Rose.
I was also raised by a single mother and know hard times like my hand.
We can simply not sit and moan and groan about the poor state of these people. Best is to roll up our sleeves and help them.
I think it is called unconditional love, as we expect nothing back from them. Maybe just a smile of happiness.
Blessings and thank you!

I worked within the nonprofits, even one in Kenya, long ago and far away. Everyone is but a paycheck away from being homeless.

From the once moneyed to the sometimes medically needy, homelessness spares nobody. Just like many things, people think it cannot happen to them. You always have my support, Sir Stephen. You let us all know what and when you need and you know we will try to make it happen.

Blessings!

You know exactly what I am taking about Lady Denise and I find it so difficult to explain it. I never want to be seen as a cry baby, but of course I will do anything to help the people.
I will have to sit down with a budget for the Christmas project and then take it from there.
Thank you so much for your true kindness.
Blessings!

Howdy sir papilloncharity! What trying times for those down and out. I think so many people on here would help or will help with your party!

Thank you Sir @janton and i am in the process of planning the party.
What a good idea to host it at the police station, as this will surely build a relationship between them and the cops.
We also hope that many will step up to the plate to help.
Blessings!
