Blain guided the site mechanism to the appropriate time/place coordinates and saw the race track on that fateful day come into view. There he was - Hercules - bearing the number 5 and being cantered down the backfield in preparation of the upcoming race. The race that would make him the most sought after stud in thoroughbred history and catapult the McGreeve Family Stables to unbelievable wealth. The race that Blain now sought to change the outcome of by keeping Hercules from running in it.

The stable boy in blue held Hercules' bridle with a steady hand as he rode alongside his charge. His only duty was to keep Hercules calm and facing forward as they headed for the first turn. It was a well known fact that the high-strung stallion was very temperamental and had to be kept in tight check.

Blain was painfully aware that it was strictly against the creed of the Timekeepers to make any changes to the past without a unanimous vote of the Tribunal. And he knew his life would be forfeit if this transgression was ever discovered. But it was such a small thing in the scheme of the world's problems that he felt sure that his deed would go undetected by anyone of importance.

It would, however, change the outcome of future generations of the McGreeve family, who had parlayed this champion racehorse into a vast fortune. A fortune that had now fallen into the evil hands of the current generation and was being used to fund a human trafficking operation. Having this legacy of millions disappear into history would prevent this current bunch of heathens from having the resources to run their ring.

Oh, and one other thing it would accomplish. His great-great-grandfather had bet a huge sum of money on this race - on the horse who came in second. When his bet lost, which was a last ditch effort to save their family farm, the man had committed suicide and left the family penniless. With Hercules out of the picture, his horse would win, and both he and the family farm would prosper.
