Practice Improves Your Skills - My New Pen Drawing

(Edited)

I have been practicing more often with pen. My goal is to reach the best I could and leave nothing behind.

In this drawing, I used harmonious strokes (cross hatching) to get my desired forms. I applied red pen on his left eye.

When I started practicing art newly, my Mentor used to tell me to add more shade (tones) to my works but I was just scared that more of that could spoil my work. So most of my early works were done with light shades and the impression wasn't that much perceived although the resemblance was there.

However, as I progressed in my journey, I realized that these shades are what bring out the beauty to works. It doesn't matter how long it will take you. What really matters is your result.

I am still learning though. I will keep practicing till I get to the level I have been dreaming to be.

Thank you.

You are really getting better and better in giant leap. The ball pen is terribly hard to make look good in a drawing (I use them also from time to time), but you have obviously learned to use it and is developing a very personal style. There's a gritty, hard expression in drawings that I like.

Yeah it was hard when I started with numerous mistakes but now I feel like I'm drawing with pencil that has no eraser.

Thank you for dropping by.

Thank you. I'm glad you like it.
For the shadow explanation, I just hope upcoming artists will grab something from it.

Your arts are quite unique, especially those in pen!

Continuing in this tempo will catapult you into the rank of the Onobrakpeyas of Nigeria sooner than anticipated!!
