Quicky in the hay

At 5:00 am I get up, take a shower, and get ready for some dirty work. I am wearing some short shorts a tank top and boots with high socks. I also put my hair up in a tight high ponytail and put on a sweatband. I stop at McDonald's and grab a Mcgriddle a few hashbrowns and a cafe mocha with whip cream. Then I stop fill up my gas and grab 4 drinks for the day. A pink lemonade, a few cokes, and another coffee. Off to work I go!

I arrive before 6 so I take my time finishing my first coffee and reading the medical chart working today chart and feed chart to make sure nothing new happened overnight. I walk over to an empty stall and relieve the burden of all that coffee. After I finish watering the sawdust shavings, I grab my time card and put my name on it then punch in.

I take a sip on my second coffee and then dip into the feed room. I grab color-coordinated buckets the same as the chart and start filling them with who is working today and eats the most so they have time to finish eating. Then I get the ones that need medicine or special vitamins and work on them. Finally, the fat boys that only get one scoop, get their food. Rotating each one as it finishes eating, the ones working today get put in cross-ties the ones that don't, get released back into the paddock. Next, I go to the barn and get 10 bails of hay on a cart and push it out into the paddock while a lot of the horses are still inside eating. Once I have put them in the hay stall I am ready to get wet.

I get the dirtiest horse working today and put him in the washroom, cross-tied and grab the low powered power washer and begin to rinse his coat down. Once his coat appears to have no more dirt in it I get a 5-gallon bucket, add about 1 cup of dawn, and fill it with the powerwasher. When the bubbles get to the top I turn it off and grab a scrub brush. I completely scrub his whole body leaving the tail main and head for last. after he is all covered in suds I power rinse him down. Then I use a scraper and scrape off any excess water I can, I do this for a total of 6 draft horses.

In between getting new horses I go have a smoke and sip coffee and a few others come in 1 an hour before head out time, a few come in at 30 minutes to head out time. The guy that came in today is so hot with his full beard and short dark hair came in 15 min early and surprised me in the washroom, he got wet and I laughed at him for startling me.
