The correct date of the birth of a Medicine Laureate Har Gobind Khorana is not known; but what is indicated in the documents is January 9, 1922. Khorana spent a year of postdoctoral programs (1948-1949) at the Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule in Zurich, before he moved to Cambridge for two years. The job offer in 1952 from Dr. Gordon M. Shrum of British Columbia took him to Vancouver, where Khorana working in the field of phosphate esters that are interesting biologically and nucleic acids. His work eventually brought him to the United States and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
However, it was during his time at the University of Wisconsin-Madison that Khorana doing the work of Nobel prize on the genetic code. Khorana shared the Nobel prize in 1968 in Physiology or Medicine with Marshall Nirenberg and Robert Holley " for their interpretation of the genetic code and its function in protein synthesis."
