Who Are The "Medicine Laureate Har Gobind Khorana" The Truth?

Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine 1968

The correct date of the birth of a Medicine Laureate Har Gobind Khorana is not known; but what is indicated in the documents is January 9, 1922. Khorana was born in a small village in the Punjab named Raipur (now part of east Pakistan). His father is an employee of the taxation of agricultural villages in the system of government India India. Although poor, his father was dedicated to educating his children and they are practically the only family educated in the village inhabited by about 100 people.

Although educational facilities are poor, Khorana finished high school and went on to receive a bachelor's degree and a master's in chemistry from the University of Punjab in Lahore. In 1945, Khorana moved to the University of Liverpool, England, under the reign of Fellowship of the India where he obtained his PhD in 1948.

Khorana spent a year of postdoctoral programs (1948-1949) at the Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule in Zurich, before he moved to Cambridge for two years. The job offer in 1952 from Dr. Gordon M. Shrum of British Columbia took him to Vancouver, where Khorana working in the field of phosphate esters that are interesting biologically and nucleic acids. His work eventually brought him to the United States and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

However, it was during his time at the University of Wisconsin-Madison that Khorana doing the work of Nobel prize on the genetic code. Khorana shared the Nobel prize in 1968 in Physiology or Medicine with Marshall Nirenberg and Robert Holley " for their interpretation of the genetic code and its function in protein synthesis."
