2 People and a third guy on steem who does it just right

(Edited)

With the newsteem in full swing, curation and content creation has never been more important. Now we don't just put our hard-earned steem in the hands of some bid bot that gives up to the bigger bidder. Nor is it beneficial to throw out senseless content nobody really cares about because you might at best get ignored and at worst downvoted. So how do we become noticed on newsteem?**

We do by taking notes of how other authors are getting noticed. So I would like to answer you why you should upvote these 3 authors who seem to deserve some of that sweet support we all are so eager to share and then take a lesson from them.

These authors are not just meant for you to go and vote, but could also serve as an inspiration of how you might turn your own passion into content that people on the platform can appreciate, and with it support from the community.

@gunnarheilmann - Master of lights.

We all like to think of ourselves as good photographers. But that illusion is quickly blown away when someone like @gunnarheilmann comes along. You can see how light is a tool for him and how well he masters it in his pictures. From crazy light experiments to subtle ways of integrating certain colors into his pictures, he is really one of the few photographers I enjoy checking in on. Even more impressive a lot of his pictures has not been edited in photoshop which is even more mind-blowingly amazing. Despite some of his posts being short it is still worth to take note of this guy because you can see how much work he puts into his pictures and the passion behind them.

A real artist who is not afraid to play around to create the most obscure pictures.

@abigail-dantes - Steems Psychology geek.

@abigail-dantes seems to do quite well on her own here on Steemit but I still thought she is worth for those of you who have not checked her out yet. Her posts are massive and go deep into different psychological complexities of the human mind.

Despite the super interesting topics @abigail-dantes decides to open up about. She is a prime example of how a person who true ambitions for writing should build up an article. From perfectly made references to the structure, it all comes together super nicely and stands out as professional work. No wonder she only posts around 1 article/week with the work that has to be put into these masterpieces. Which also means, there's no danger in giving those few articles a 100% upvote. She is one of those where you should get yourself a cup of coffee before you start reading, it will for sure be empty by the end

that "third guy" on a list

Yeah, who the hell is the third guy? How do you get noticed in the river of posts and not just flow down the drain, forgotten and never to be visited?

Let me tell you a secret, you don't need to have worked on your blog for years, you don't have to invest into huge amount of SP(unless you want that sweet curation reward). All you need is a little bit of dedication and some skills to show.

When I started on steem a little over 2 years ago you had to be good enough to "catch a whale". Without much tools for people to actually find your content and no major curating programs that would hunt the platform for your work, this was really hard. All you could do was write a post that would be super good, throw the coin and hope a whale would drop by within the first hour. (otherwise, the post would have drowned by then). Sometimes you could get lucky and get a super vote, other times you would have to accept those 10 cents your post would give you.

Then bid bots came along and destroyed even that.

But now, after an era of bid bot torment, we have so many different curation programs(probably the only good thing that came out from bid bots), and they are hunting for almost any type of content you might want to produce. Art, steem-talk, travel, science or even just guys who like all kind of content... The list goes on.
Given you use the right tags for the right situation and if you write some really quality gold, you will, without doubt, get noticed. As a personal witness to this, I have made 3 recent posts that I put quite a bit of work into, all of them got noticed by different curating programs.

The time to be the good author on Steem is better than ever. Which is a bit ironic when we thought the new change of 50/50 reward split would mean the death of authors. Who would have thought giving curators better cuts would mean better curation?!

Steem has actually become a place for you to really share your own passion.

So if you want to become "that third guy" on someone's list, one first step is to drop the bad habits from the bid bot era and start to write as a #newsteem author would. Both the authors I showcased you here are doing something very different from each other, yet, they seem to get acknowledged of their hard work to some extent and they get that because what they are doing is something they love.

We are all looking for the third guy to curate now, will you be him?

Oh my goodness @holm! I am just starting my day now ... And, of course, one cannot do that before quickly checking what is going on on the platform, right? :)

So here I am! Not only learning about authors worth following on Steemit, but reading such kind, motivating words about my work here! Thank you very much for recognizing the effort & time I put into my articles. Thank you, thank you so much <3

Steem has actually become a place for you to really share your own passion.

I greatly believe in this! :)

I wish you a wonderful day ahead.
Best,
Abigail

Thank you for stopping by @abigail-dantes ! Your work is among the best, in my opinion. Which reminds me, it's about 1 week ago since your last article, I feel a new one should be coming from you real soon;)?

Abigali's posts are fabulous. I'm a big fan of her articles for over 1.5 years now. I would like to include @lemouth into this list as his knowledge on particle physics and the way with which he expresses it are outstanding. Interestingly, with the guidance of these very people I was able to put in some efforts and write few steemstem articles in the beginning of 2018. Now with the onset of new culture after HF21, I should put in more efforts to be recognised!

Thanks for the tips man, I know @gunnarheilmann from some photo contests and must agree that his work is outstanding. But @abigail-dantes was new to me and after checking her blog, I instantly became a fan of her work and will be happy to support her.

Woooaah I want to thank you for this wonderful description of what I do. I will quote you 😊 iam very very thankful for the your support and encouragement.

All the still photos are not edited in Photoshop. Sometimes just rezised 😎 because it goes fast in Photoshop. The covers for my film stuff I do of course in Photoshop because it's grafic work. As a light painter I take pride in getting the result pretty much all in camera.

Glad you appreciated that part. Many people can't comprehend that part and it's meaning for the work that therfore must go into engineering the photograph. As I refer to it 🙏

No problem man! It's all deserved and you really caught my attention right from the moment I stumbled upon on of your posts. To be honest, never heard of "light painter" before I met you and now I almost want to try to it out myself ;)

Keep up the good work!

I fully agree with you that @abigail-dantes is writing, constantly for many years, excellent articles (she is often featured in the SteemSTEM distilled series, that collects the best of the posts supported by the SteemSTEM initiative). I must admit that even if psychology is in total opposition with me, she manages to weekly trigger interesting personal questioning in me :)

It's super cool to see other people also have noticed the same as I do!
I actually think I found her at some point through some curation FROM steemstem!

Would love to test my strength with steemstem as well one day, but it is going to be hard to match up against some of those clever minds I see from there. (including you, your articles also kick ass. )

We are currently trying to increase the exposure for our best users, not only on Steem (via resteems, being featured in our weekly distilled and through a dedicated promotion system on our app), but also eslewhere (facebook, twitter, reddit and instagram). I hope this will allow us to show the best of SteemSTEM externally and on-board people. For now, we have managed to attract at least one new user (@thefairjournal to name him ;) ), who is sharing very interesting content for STEM in general.

Would love to test my strength with steemstem as well one day, but it is going to be hard to match up against some of those clever minds I see from there.

We have strict guidelines, but we also have different level of support so that one does not have to be an academics to be supported by SteemSTEM (see here for more information). As long as the post is interesting, correctly referenced and uses copyright-free images, it may well fell under our radar :)

Anyways, if you need help to create content for SteemSTEM, we have a full team of experienced honour members that will be very happy to help and provide advice.

(including you, your articles also kick ass. )

This is warmly appreciated! Thanks a lot!

I'm going to try to get back into the game myself. I feel the pain of the 3rd guy though. Although for the first time ever, someone actually bit bot one of my posts for like $10.. I have no idea who did it. lol. Apparently I have a fan.

I have bought all of my steem back and a bit more.. Now I have to catch up with you again. This just won't do. lol!

A lot of people say that I am the best at taking the right amount of time on break from Steem. Some might even say that I have really good timing. I've heard that other people aren't as smart as me. I don't know if that is true or not, but the best people have told me that I should come back to Steem and I tend to believe them.
