Here We Go Again

You would imagine that a multi billion dollar company would learn from their mistakes, at least after their last three major products failed miserably. Now we could argue for days about what constitutes a film failing, but let's just look at the most recent Rise of Sky Walker film, and what the return on investment was. Disney spent about $275 million to make the film and they made $1.072 billion at the box office, which is like a 390% return on investment, which is great. But compared that to Star Wars A New Hope which was released in 1977, the film cost George Lucas $11 million and took $775 Million the the box office, that's a 7000% return. That's like buying bitcoin when it was under $10, now 390% is in no way bad, but when you add the previous two film to that as well as toy sales. Star Wars is not doing great at all, so much so that the Disney CEO has just stepped down with immediate effect, not a good sign.

The question is where did they go wrong with what is probably the most loved franchise of all time, with the biggest fan base ever? Well that can all be narrowed down to one person, Kathleen Kennedy, current president of Lucas Film and her love of injecting identity politics into Star Wars, as well as not treating the franchise and fans with respect.

Now that the entire Skywalker sage is over and the the fan base is split in two, where will Disney go with the new story, everyone was hoping for the Old Republic. Unfortunately with the current track record of not respecting the story, I'm pretty happy they are not going there. Instead they are going back 200 year before the events of Star Wars Episode One, which is known as the High Republic, set very much in a time of peace. Right off the bat there's a bit of unnoticed irony in this, which is it's called Star Wars, not Star Peace. To add insult to injury, in the trailer where they explain what and how they came up with the new High Republic story line, one of the first point of the direction of the story, is to no be pro war. I couldn't face palm any harder, also their main points is that there should be diversity ans well as "No S Males Characters" and I imagine that would probably mean straight male or single male. It's literally set in a long time ago a a galaxy far far away with aliens, but yeah let push identity politics.

Who the fuck are these disgusting people that watch a film and say, well I didn't enjoy that because there was not enough peopl ein with the same skin colour as me? Well I can tell you, racists think like that.
