AOC’s Baseless Accusation That the US Is a “Brutal, Barbarian Society”

Contrary to AOC’s portrayal of the USA as “a brutal, barbarian society for the vast majority of working-class Americans,” the key facts that inform this matter show that: the lone statistic she used to support this allegation is false, and that middle and even low-income Americans have more material resources to weather COVID-19 than the majority of people in most developed nations.

Statistics can be made to say whatever you want, especially when you outright lie or misrepresent them in the first place. The fact of the matter is that as a general rule, people in other countries, whether socialist or not, are not in a better position to whether unexpected expenses than those in the U.S.

I'm not going to argue everything is perfect. Of course it is not. It's just sad to see so much blamed (much of it not even true in the first place) on "capitalism" when largely speaking that's not even the system we currently live under. Maybe it's 1/3 capitalism and 2/3 combination socialism and corporatism. I'm just spitballing of course but the point is that we have a mixed system and most problems should be blamed on things other than "capitalism". I may even be overplaying the capitalism share given how regulated the market is.
