Another solid day on Thursday thanks to both sharp analysis and the needed luck which is the combination for hot streaks. There are still 20+ days to go with plenty of matches and betting action and I'm aiming to keep things going. One interesting bet today with again a couple of pre-game positions...
Zulte-Waregem vs Anderlecht
Anderlecht right now is simply not good enough, I wrote about it when previewing their last match and it was pretty much confirmed. Their players simply aren't good enough to be a top team and their coach is basically a rookie probably has been demanding way too much. This kind of worked against smaller teams to a certain extent but when facing better opponents they were nowhere and didn't even have the high intensity and grinta to win. So Kompany switched to asking just that from their players giving it their best. That is what they did against Standard which ended in a 0-0 with good defense but no offensive quality whatsoever. They are still without Trebel who brings the most experience and Tau who is one of their best scorers. In their last 2 matches, they only had 3 attempts on target in total, and opponents don't really have had a hard time keeping them from scoring. Zulte-Waregem took a 0-3 win against a struggling AA Gent last week and have put more focus on their defense after getting too many goals against early in the season. In their last 2 home matches, they managed to only create a total of 3 attempts on goal. They did look quite shaky at the start of the match against AA Gent but didn't have an issue holding them off afterward scoring some goals with high efficiency. The way I look at it, the total line is too much influenced by both results from early in the season where both teams got more goals against and played with less focus on defense and the fact that there have been so many high scoring matches due to the circumstances which also seems to be reverting back to more normal. For as far as the sides go, Anderlecht still gets way too much credit just based on their name. I backed bot the Under and Underdog splitting bets between
