Luis Alberto is one of the huge stars in the blue part of Rome, but yesterday the Spanish player had to be rushed to hospital and operated on. The reason for this is that the 28-year-old offensive midfielder was stricken with acute appendicitis. The operation should have taken place without complications - Lazio writes on their website.

Lazio are currently in seventh place in the Italian Serie A, and they are part of an incredibly competitive field, which includes the city children from Roma, Juventus and Atalanta, who are all currently fighting for the European places. Thus, it is a big blow that they now probably have to miss Luis Alberto in some matches. The Spaniard has only missed two games in Serie A this season and scored six goals. Most recently, he made two in the 3-0 win over arch-rivals Roma.
