Cubism and impressionism breaking the rules

In a brief but nourishing tour of the Armando Reverón Museum of Contemporary Art in the city of Caracas, I was able to confirm that many exhibitions are permanent. I visited the museum about 2 years ago and found an exhibition in the main hall where the assemblages always vary but in the other 5 rooms the same works have been on display for 10 years when I visited the museum and found some works from the internal collection, Pablo Picasso and Monet two rebellious artists in the history of art.

Although impressionism and cubism differ a little in technique and arguments both movements share a rebellious spirit that moved the seeds of art in Europe mainly.

The Impressionist movement was banned for much of its period because it did not meet the demands of the fine arts circles that imposed their world view of art, of how and under what criteria a work of art should be composed, the main challenge of the Impressionists was to demonstrate through different treatises dedicated to the use of light in a more natural and exact way as perceived by the human eye something that was far from reality in the realist period whose artificial effects of light did not really resemble natural or artificial light, the impressionist movement also changed the way of choosing motifs, preferring open-air and brightly lit places, as well as avoiding at all costs subjects related to religious iconographies, something that realism could never dissociate itself from.

One of the masters of impressionism, Claude Monet, who organized different collective events to expose the new art at that time, was so discredited by impressionism that the artists had to present themselves in the salon of the rejected in Paris, that's how art was handled in Europe at that time.

Another artist who stood out even more for his unexpected way of breaking into European art and how this would change the course of art history, Picasso one of the most prominent artists of the Cubist movement who broke with the 500-year tradition of painting under the technique of perspective, the famous vanishing point and geometrical forms of composition were displaced by the multi-perspective proposed by the cubist artists, in addition cubism vindicates the minor arts as for example the Celtic, Gothic and African art, creating a new plastic to face the old and antiquated models of the art that had been positioned for many centuries.

Although Picasso is an artist who was proved several cases of plagiarism, it can be said that in Cubist lands he stood out leaving a legacy that allowed the opening of new movements that are still in force today.

It is an honor to have some works of these two artists that marked the history of universal art. I hold both movements in very high esteem because they are the breaking point of a malevolent system of domination that did much damage to art.
