Hello everyone! When #NeedleWorkMonday first began we did some community projects that challenged us to use our skills and talents for giving. We wanted to do a project at least every few months but the participation level was so low. A big part of that was due to us being a new community with very few members. Now that we have grown with more weekly participants, we thought it would be a great idea to bring this particular challenge back with a twist.

'Project Warm A Soul' has a double purpose. The first purpose is to literally warm someone up with a handmade item like a scarf or hat during the cold season. The second purpose is to warm someone’s heart and soul by making them an item that is of good use or that fills a particular need. In both cases, hearts will be warmed by your kind generosity and the giving of your time and skills to meet a need.

The Task

Two years ago the task was to wrap your item around a tree or pole with a note attached similar to the above photo. Our hopes were that people would see the scarf, grab it and keep it for their warmth. We are changing up the task a bit this round.

For those that live in colder climates we are challenging you to make an item that will keep someone warm throughout Winter. It could be anything from a hat, scarf, blanket, mittens, leg warmers, ear warmers, etc.

If you live in a warmer climate we challenge you to make something useful, something that makes life easier and can be put to good use. Some examples could be a reusable shopping bag, bottle carrier, kitchen scrubby, pillow, cozy of any kind etc.

The idea is to give this item to someone you do not know within your community. You can gift this in whatever way you like whether it’s leaving the item visible as explained above or physically handing it to someone.

Rules & Deadline

1) The gift item must be handmade needlework.

2) Make a post about the item you made. We would love to see things like process photos, a detailed description about your item, your thoughts and feelings while making the item and how you felt about the outcome. Tell us who you decided to gift the item to and how it was given.

3) Please make sure to use the #needleworkmonday tag if posting on Monday and the #needlework tag if posting on any other day. We want to be sure not to miss your entry.

4) Somewhere in your post title please include the title of this challenge, 'Project Warm A Soul'.

5) Include a link to your post in the comment section below.

6) You do not have to be apart of the @needleworkmonday community to join in! We welcome all!

The challenge begins now and will run for the rest of this month through the last of December on the 31st. You can post your entry anytime up until the deadline.

Prizes

We are challenging the @needleworkmonday community to give of their time and skills to help someone in need and to provide something that is useful. We are encouraging you to give from your heart and to uplift someone that may be down. The reward is in knowing you have given your time and talent in generosity to others.

There will be no monetary prizes. However, I will be giving away SBI Shares at my own discretion for participation efforts and for the quality of entries. We will also be featuring posts that participate in this challenge and follow the rules from above. Please keep our posting guidelines in mind and make sure your posts align.

For those of you that are home educators and are teaching your student(s) a needle craft, this would be a great opportunity for some community service hours. Keep record of the hours spent on making this gift item ;)

We hope that you will join us in spreading some love and inspiring others to be a blessing to someone. There’s a warm feeling when doing a kind act for a stranger. This is how good deeds keep going and going. Looking forward to seeing these handmade gifts of love ~ ❤️
