Ich habe diese Anleitung im Dezember bei einem Event auf Ravelry mehrmals gesehen und fand es wunderschön. Als ich einen Code für eine freie Anleitung dieser Designerin bekam, wusste ich sofort, welches Modell ich wählen würde!

I saw this pattern several times in December during a challenge on Ravelry. When I got a code for one free pattern of the mitts' designer, I immediately knew which pattern to choose :)

Als ich den Handschuh zu stricken begann, war ich nicht zufrieden. Die Schneeflocken und Diamanten entstehen durch rechte Maschen, aber bei mir war das nicht zu sehen. Ich versuchte es mit zwei verschiedenen Garnen (einem Sockengarn und einem reinen Merinogarn) und bei beiden Garnen zeigte sich das Muster nicht wirklich. Vielleicht muss man da beim Stricken mehr aufpassen - fester stricken? Oder lockerer? Großer Seufzer

When I started this pattern I wasn't happy. The original pattern makes the snowflakes and diamonds in purls, but that didn't really show. I tried it with two different yarns (a sock yarn and a pure merino one) and with both yarns the pattern didn't really show. Perhaps there is a special way to knit - more tension? Less tension? sighs

Das ist das Merinogarn, für das Bild über ein Glas gezogen - das Muster der rechten Maschen ist kaum sichtbar. Viele der Handschuhe auf Ravelry waren mit Perlen gemacht und sahen sehr gut aus - ich hatte noch nie mit Perlen gestrickt, aber dies schien der richtige Moment zu sein, es auszuprobieren. Ich fragte nach der Art der verwendeten Perlen und erhielt die Antwort "Toho 8/0". Okay, die Information habe ich einem Freund mitgegeben, der in der Kreisstadt arbeitet (der Bastelladen in unserer Stadt hat letztes Jahr geschlossen) und dann mit den besorgten Perlen und dem Sockengarn neu angefangen.

That is the merino yarn, pulled over a glass for the picture - the pattern with the purl stitches is barely visible. A lot of people had used beads for the mitts - I had never knit with beads before, but that seemed the right moment to try it. I asked after the kind of beads to use and got the answer "Toho 8/0". Okay, that's what I asked a friend of mine to buy in the county seat (the crafts store in our town closed last year) and then started anew with the sock yarn.

Es gibt zwei Möglichkeiten, mit Perlen zu stricken: entweder fädelt man sie auf das Garn auf oder man nimmt eine kleine Häkelnadel und arbeitet eine Masche durch eine Perle. Die Arbeit mit einer zusätzlichen Nadel ist mir zu knifflig - ich benutze auch keine Zopfnadel. Also schätzte ich die Anzahl der benötigten Perlen, fügte 10% hinzu, fädelte die Dinger auf und begann dann zu stricken.

There are two ways to knit with beads: either you thread them on the yarn or you take a tiny crochet hook and work a stitch through a bead. Working with an additional needle is too fiddly for me - I don't use a cable needle either. So I estimated the number of beads I would need, added 10% and then started to knit.

Man muss die Perlen während des Strickens weiter auf den Faden schieben. Am Anfang jeder Reihe ziehe ich die benötigten Perlen näher an meine Hand und "parke" sie auf meinem Zeigefinger (funktioniert nur für Leute die "europäisch" stricken). Um eine Perle einzustricken, nehme ich die Perle zwischen das Projekt und die rechte Nadel, sodass sie nach dem Stricken auf dem rechten "Bein" der Masche liegt. In der nächsten Reihe stricke ich diese Masche links, wodurch die Perle schön auf dem "horizontalen" Teil der Masche liegt.

You have to push the beads further down the yarn while you knit. At the start of each row, I pull the needed beads further to my hand and "park" them on my index finger (only works for continental knitters, not for pickers and throwers). To put a bead at its position, I have the bead between the project and the right needle, so that it's on the right "leg" of the stitch after knitting it. In the next row, I purl the stitch with the bead, which puts the bead nicely on the "horizontal" part of the stitch.

Ich war wirklich überrascht, wie einfach es ist mit Perlen zu stricken. Es könnte noch etwas ordentlicher aussehen, aber das wird mit mehr Übung kommen. Ich habe vor, in Zukunft einige "perlenartige" Projekte zu machen, vielleicht ein Tuch? Oder Socken? Aber eine Frage bleibt: Wie haltbar sind diese Perlen? Kann ich die Handschuhe in die Waschmaschine geben? Ich konnte keine Informationen finden, aber vielleicht habe ich (mal wieder) die falschen Suchbegriffe verwendet.

I was really surprised how easy this knitting with beads is. They could look a bit more tidy, but that will come with more practice. I plan to do some "beady" projects in the future, perhaps a shawl? Or socks? But one question remains: How durable are these beads? Can I put the mitts into my washing machine? I couldn't find any information, but perhaps I used the wrong search terms (again).

What's off my needles / Abgestrickt

Mal wieder ein Paar Socken fertig - dieses Mal mit 6fach Sockengarn. Das ging unglaublich schnell, ich kann es nur empfehlen. Wer Socken meist daheim trägt, der sollte es einmal mit dieser Garnstärke probieren - super kuschelige und warme Socken!

I finished a pair of socks with sports weight sock yarn (6ply Regia) - that was really fast. I can only recommend the yarn weight, if you want to wear the socks at home the thicker yarn just adds more warmth and comfort.
