Okay, I'm on a roll here. Yesterday I hand stitched and made an ear bud pouch for my new wireless ear buds. The main thing missing is a snap to keep it closed. As I was packing for my cruise tomorrow, I realized that my eyeglass case is too bulky and heavy. It is perfect for protecting my lenses, but it is too bulky when I am trying to travel light.

So I went through my sewing notions and found a leather needle for my sewing machine. I tried stitching a small remnant piece of leather to see if the metal feed dog would be able to handle the leather. Voila! It worked. The last time that I tried to sew leather on the sewing machine in my other house, it was a disaster. That is why I started sewing and stitching my leather by hand. The sewing machine at this house is not a very model but it does have metal feed dogs and it is a Brother. I am so pleased and surprised. I have been wanting to make a nice leather purse for a while now. I have several patterns and the notions already but I kept putting it off because I thought that I would mess up my leather.

I decided to cut a small piece of leather off of the full hide for my eyeglass case. I measured it make sure that it would hold my prescription glasses that include transition effects for sun which I will desperately need in the carribean.

I also included a little bit of space for a lens cleaner too. I haven't been to the store yet to buy some snaps, so right now it is still open. Even if I don't get to the store today to apply a snap to the case, it still works. There is enough room in the case that the eyeglasses don't just slip out since the leather is not slippery.

I need to get back to packing for my cruise.
