Rainy Walk
(Edited)
It's not supposed to be raining. At one time, December weather like this was unheard of. In fact, there was one year not too long ago when our city blew its entire budget for snow removal in November! Rain over the last several days has taken the snow away.
It's not exactly raining today. I ventured out into what some people call a Scotch mist. It fits except for the location.
Scotch mist - A combination of mist or fog and drizzle, occurring frequently in Scotland and parts of England.
You have been here before. I have photographed this scene in a blaze of autumn colour and the blue days of winter. There's still some rust colour but everything is awash with grey today.
See how autumn's leaves are plastered to the path? If they weren't removed every spring, the paths would soon disappear. Early settlers cut down the deciduous forests to use the deep and rich soil they produce.
Rotting trees in city parks are cut down before they fall on someone.
I swear, that stump looks like it's complaining.
There is always something to see in the bush. Now whose home is this?
Nobody playing here today. It's 3 C (approx. 36°F) and my feet are getting wet.
Turning to go home, I return on a different path.
Why would I show you this trash can? Well, last year I took a photo of it looking down when there were only a couple of inches sticking out of the snow!
A treacherous journey filled with perils but I think we will make it around the puddle! lol
A forest of orange and yellow markers has sprung up that indicate which snow removal company has the contract for that driveway. In the foreground, there is one to mark the fire hydrant so we can find it in deep snow.
Uh-oh. Did you lose these? Someone has found lost mittens and has very helpfully picked them up off the ground so you can find them. Otherwise, they would be buried in the snow. This is a pretty common sight.
Last photo... they put Christmas lights up on this hedge.
