I did a photo search on google, I am not 100% sure this is a drone fly but looks literally like a Drone (bee) but not, check that out here https://www.google.com/search?q=drone+fly&sxsrf=ALeKk00VmnNyWIS8zNFAANm0TRFH-st93g:1594653569931&tbm=isch&source=iu&ictx=1&fir=U3G7Aonu4jGCrM%252Cg8IsL5feVslv-M%252C%252Fm%252F0db_ts&vet=1&usg=AI4_-kQZn9bYf5XSo_cB9uyxtB52edDBeg&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwi7-cy8w8rqAhVcShUIHexLAFAQ_B0wHXoECAUQAw&biw=1280&bih=699#imgrc=U3G7Aonu4jGCrM

Interesting write up here as per wikipedia: Eristalis tenax is a hoverfly, also known as the drone fly, of the order Diptera. Diptera is one of the three largest and most diverse animal groups in the world.[2] Eristalis tenax is common, migratory and cosmopolitan; it is the most widely distributed syrphid species in the world and is known from all regions except the Antarctic. It has been introduced into North America and is widely established. It can be found in gardens and fields all over both Europe[3] and Australia,[4] but have also been found in the Himalayas.[5]

We have thousands of honey bees on this property and I see them daily as we have around 10 bee hives in the area, on this fine day I noticed this guy very similar to a skuttelata but it was not and so I took a closer look and some pics.

The manner in which he flies is far more 'accurate' wings flap much faster and he can hover on the same spot flawlessly which a honey bee cannot, but is it a bee? Apparently not. Now to get myself some mega bucks buy a decent camera and start doing this right?
