Back from nature to hustle on..

Happy Monday!

I took some time off over the weekend and spent some time on a camping site in the countryside. Well, actually, it was more like a glamping site as they call it - 'glamour camping'. What that means is that you get to be in nature like proper campers, but with standard amenities like electricity, running water and sometimes even the Internet. There was no Wifi in my cabin but I did have reception on my phone, so my 4G network brought the Internet to me, even if at greatly reduced speeds.

It was very refreshing, and I'm glad I went. It was the first time getting away from my neighbourhood since Lockdown 2.0 began. It's also the perfect place to escape to even at the height of the pandemic I think. I never once met the owners or interact with anybody else. The key to the cabin lives in a little pod that's accessed by a security code that was texted to me by the owners. All the instructions for everything are on their website, so I could access it anytime I wanted. Really awesome. I will do a full post about this place - some kind of review - when I get all my photos in order.

It was raining throughout the first day which was actually a good thing. I cut off my access to the Internet and basically forced me to sleep most of the day. Who knew I was so sleep deprived? Luckily the rain relented just in time for me to fire up the BBQ for dinner.

Being forced to break my usual routine really made me realise a few habits I'd developed in the short time we've been shut down. The first is how much more coffee I drink now. Like, wow. I was craving coffee ever hour or so. At home I'd just pop to the kitchen and fire up the kettle. The cabin had electricity, but not strong enough for a kettle, so I had to make a fire. I forgot to take a Thermos flask to keep the water hot for longer, so I just had to do with fewer coffees - only twice a day :)

The second thing I realised is that I'm not as physically strong as I used to be just two years ago! I decided to rearrange some furniture and move some heavy metallic objects around outdoors and found those activities more tasking than usual. I really need to get back to working out my essential muscles before they completely atrophy away.

The third thing is my need to constantly check my phone for updates on EVERYTHING! I would tap on each app one after the other and refresh, most of the time autonomously without even thinking about what I'm doing. My crypto apps, Twitter, email apps, and so on. It's a crazy addiction.

By the third time I had settled into the simpler life and was slightly sad to return to the city. I'd have stayed longer, but the whole place was fully booked. I was lucky to even find that opening. Since it's such a pain to travel these days, if you can travel at all, people don't have much choice. Most staycation destinations are fully booked with hiked up prices. Also, I have so much to do that I can't actually take that much time off at the moment.

Well, it's Monday again - back to the hustle.

Peace & Love,

Adé

The rain was a welcome break over the weekend, a chance to catch up and the earth certainly needed it.

I'm wondering about "sleep depraved". Is that like perverted slumber? 😁.

Very interesring reflections. I think everyone in this world would need a trip like this during this pandemic to stake out all vicious habits produces by the closure.

I think so. Most people would probably be shocked by how much they've changed

I love camping.

I don't mind glamping.

Rest and relaxation on a trip is something that just happens through osmosis.

I don't think I'll do well on a proper camping trip lol. Glamping is a happy compromise for me :)
