Thank you for visiting my blog and Continuing with the series of properties and benefits of fruits and vegetables, today I bring you information about:

Cinnamon is obtained from 2 plants, belonging to the Lauraceae family: Cinnamomum zeylanicun and Cinnamomum cassia. This spice is obtained directly from the branches or trunks of small trees and only the inner part of the bark is used and although it is used to flavor foods and desserts, it has many therapeutic properties. Let's see some.

Antiseptic.

It is a natural antiseptic that can fight and eliminate fungi, viruses and bacteria, for example, it is used as a base for toothpastes, mouthwashes and other products based on this spice.

Diabetes.

Cinnamon helps reduce the percentage of blood sugar. Its consumption interferes with different digestive enzymes. This causes the digestion of carbohydrates in the digestive tract to slow down. Another of its properties is to contain a compound that acts by mimicking insulin, allowing to improve the absorption of sugars at the cellular level.

Fungicide and Antibacterial.

Cinnamon acts against the fungus Candida albicans and the bacteria called Escherichia coli. Both are responsible for urinary tract infections. It is antiseptic for the respiratory tract and provides benefits in case of colds and halitosis.

As an antibacterial, cinnamon reduces problems related to digestion, especially swelling. It kills bacteria and eliminates infections of the gastrointestinal tract facilitating the work of gastric juices.

Cinnamon oil has beneficial effects against different strains of bacteria, fungi and yeast species.

Anti-tumor.

Thanks to its antioxidant properties, cinnamon protects against cell mutation and tumor growth. These benefits would derive from a compound called cinnamaldehyde that can prevent DNA damage and inhibit cell growth by inducing the death of tumor cells by apoptosis. Especially it can protect the cancer colon.

Multiple sclerosis.

Researchers claim that the properties of cinnamon can block the degenerative process of multiple sclerosis.

Brain function.

Thanks to its abundance of antioxidants, cinnamon could improve brain function with benefits in terms of protection against disorders such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease. This spice helps block the accumulation of a certain protein in the brain involved in Alzheimer's disease. It has also been shown that cinnamon has a protective effect on neurons, this property prevents oxidative stress and reduces the risk of inflammation and cellular damage, thus preserving the health of the brain and avoiding cognitive impairment.

Protect the heart.

Consumption of this spice has been associated with a reduced risk of developing heart disease, regular consumption reduces levels of bad cholesterol, triglycerides and blood pressure. It can also fight myocardial ischemia.

Digestive.

It also has digestive properties, as it can promote the breakdown of fats. This happens thanks to the stimulation of a digestive enzyme called trispine. To allow this to happen, you can take advantage of the preparation of a cinnamon tea after the meal.

Headache.

In case of headache, you can calm the pain with small massages in the temples with cinnamon oil.

Cinnamon is mainly used in the aromas and essences industries thanks to its aroma and organoleptic properties. The spice can be easily incorporated into different varieties of perfumes and creams.

Cinnamon is also used in toothpastes and chewing gum to improve breath.

Lose weight.

The consumption of cinnamon is that it allows us to accelerate the metabolism to burn calories and facilitate that weight loss in a very specific area: the abdomen and the fat accumulated there.

Cinnamon is a spice widely used to aromatize and give a special flavor to exotic food, sweets and drinks, it can also be prepared in infusion, taken in small quantities.

I particularly like to add cinnamon to chichas and hot chocolate.

  • As with all foods, be careful not to overdo it as it can irritate the stomach, it is recommended that people with gastric ulcer do not consume it.

  • When consumed in large quantities, it can cause an allergic reaction due to the cinnamaldehyde that cinnamon contains.

  • Coumarin is a compound that contains Cassia cinnamon in high amounts and can cause liver damage if this type of cinnamon is consumed in large quantities.

I hope you like this initiative ... you can make suggestions and propose fruits and vegetables for the next delivery.

Hey @blessed-girl

I love your WP blog and this post about cinnamon is so interesting. I love cinnamon and knew that cassia was slightly different, but was under the impression from a local who has a spice shop that they were from the same tree. One learns something every day. That and some of the properties of cinnamon about which I didn't know: like the antifungal properties. A friend of mine uses cinnamon as a rooting powder instead of the commercial rooting powder.

On that score, I want to suggest that on both your WP blog you encourage folk to comment - it's a great way to get followers and engagement. Also, on @steempress plugin, you check the option that allows comments from WP and Steempress to show on both platforms. It's a great (and convenient) way to engage with followers from both platforms.

I plan to stop by again.

Have a great week!
Fiona
