Living an Abundant Life - Meditation Challenge Reloaded

Today is the first day of the 21 day abundance meditation challenge being run by @plantstoplanks in the @naturalmedicine community. These meditation sessions are led by Deepak Chopra, and incorporate ideas of manifesting abundance through intention and giving back into the world what you want to get out. This will be the second time I've completed these meditations in the last two months as I joined the December challenge.

So why the reload?

Due to various issues I wasn't really able to fully engage in the daily tasks last time around. It was in the run up to Christmas, my chronic illness was kicking my ass energy-wise and to be completely honest, I was drinking too much.

What has changed?

I'm currently 5 days into the keto diet, and have completely removed all sugar, alcohol and caffeine from my diet. I'm still feeling the strange effects of keto flu... but I'm very hopeful that these changes might help me to heal my liver and gut conditions. If you want to read more about how these conditions effect me, and my research into healing them, please check out my recent post...

It is partly because of these changes I've made in my life, and the positive affirmation that meditation provides, that I'm much more hopeful of manifesting my goals of an abundance of health and wealth.

Today's Meditation - Behold the Abundance in the Wolrd

Today's meditation is like a primer; it sets the intention for the whole 21 day challenge. Without that coat of white beneath the vibrant blue on your wall, that color wouldn't shine out as much. So it is with this beginning meditation.

Deepak Chopra begins by disusing the idea that abundance is our natural state.

What is true abundance? True abundance is the experience in which our needs are easily met, and our desires spontaneously fulfilled. We know true abundance when we feel joy, health, happiness, a sense of purpose and vitality in every moment of our existence. An overflowing fullness that infuses every facet of our lives. We never need to seek abundance, we simply need to notice and open up, to what is already there, and allow the bounty of the universe to flow through us. Each of us experiences abundance every day. In the unbounded joy of a child and the bright sunlight that fills the room as you open your eyes to a new morning.

Deepak Chopra from day 1 of the meditation challenge

This is something that I agree with and think that many people misunderstand. We move away from seeing the abundance in the world when we start looking at it through the smudged lens of our ego. We trace ideas over the world based on what we've been taught and how situations throughout our life shape us. To differing extents, people forget to see the abundance of joy in this world.

In the meditation Deepak Chopra reinforces this by highlighting the simple things that manifest abundance external to us, such as nature - 'vibrant fields of wildflowers, majestic mountain peaks, lush and fragrant forests and the richery of wildlife that thrives on our planet.'

The meditation culminates with a focus on breath, using a sanskrit mantra to focus the mind. Finally, after the breath work, Deepak asks us to observe this abundance throughout our day by sharing the daily affirmation:

Today, I behold all the abundance that surrounds me.

I love this as it is the exact way that I naturally center myself when I'm taking on too much of the world's heaviness. This is the way I find peace in my environment - by focusing on the things of constancy like the clouds, the sway of trees outside my window and the sound of the river lapping at the shore. These aspects of nature never feel a lack of abundance!

There is still time to join this challenge today if you're quick! If you want to join us in this journey to an abundant life, please drop into the natural medicine discord and ask for @plantstoplanks.

I'm so excited to see such a good group for this round! I am feeling the abundance already, and I haven't even gotten to the meditation myself yet today, haha. Lovely to read your experience with the challenge, and I'm hoping you'll get that mega health abundance boost by the end of this round. Happy to have your energy in the group!

I'm really happy to be doing it again. And now with this new healthy lifestyle I feel like I'll be able to put more into it :)

and I'm hoping you'll get that mega health abundance boost by the end of this round.

Fingers crossed, I'm hoping for some miraculous healing. I visited the GI specialist today and he was like a lawyer in that he wouldn't commit to giving me even his opinion on all the things I've implemented in the last week (keto diet, milk thistle etc).

Time to take control of my own healing I think :)

I think you've probably researched alternative methods for healing much more than the majority of GI specialists. I guess I understand not wanting to give an opinion if some of those therapies haven't been rigorously tested, but at the same time you'd think he would be all for anything that could possibly finally bring you relief! I'm sure that extra attention to the mind-body connection can only help your body find the path the healing!

I totally agree with you in the definition of abundance, many people think that abundance is something material and they forget what it really is. The fact of being happy and having joy in your soul, that is already abundance, to be able to enjoy those little details that surround us and that go unnoticed, that is abundance, a few days ago I made a publication about wealth and I talk a little of what society defines wealth and what I think is true wealth.

Happy day. 😊

Absolutely agree with you. It's all about having the mentality to see these wonders of abundance in the world around you, then these things will reflect back on you and that's when life really starts to work for you. I've suffered from depression/anxiety disorder in my life, and it's taken years for me to get my mentality right... well most of the time anyway lol

Interesting what you say about wealth. For me wealth would be having perfect health and having love in my life. I have one of those two, and I'm working on the other.

All the best blessed-girl 😊

Yeah, Xmas is a stressful time for sure. I was limited by the expectations of all my childhood friends to organize our annual Christmas pub crawl lol

I really should have given up alcohol well before January, and the fact I knew I was drinking on the 28th of Dec just gave me an excuse to keep up with a load of other unhealthy eating/drinking habits.

Glad to be here for this round of meditation with you riverflows :)

I love that you're starting again. :) I started the group here on steem by dragging in @riverflows and that original group has now over 112 people who have signed up. I'm also planning to do the whole 21 Day challenge again, quietly, for myself. Cos I think the repetition and the meditations are like gently watering a seedling....

It's a great practice that brings so much to my life :)

Thank you for starting the trend @artemislives

Absolutely! That is my plan, I'm gonna do this group round and then continue in a personal development of the abundancy challenge :)

Awesome write up, mate :>)

As goes for you, I'm joining this challenge for the second time in a couple of months, even though I made it throughout last time, including making it through the end of the group that I formed.

I can't get enough of abundance though ;>)

I love this as it is the exact way that I naturally center myself when I'm taking on too much of the world's heaviness.

Too much of the world's heaviness is abundance too, although it's kind of the opposite of what you're looking for ;>)

Good luck with the keto thing. I hope it improves your health! Make sure to add the right stuff to keep your number 2 going.

P.S. How did you do that click on picture to go to post thing? How do you get a hyperlink underneath a picture? I like it!

P.P.S. I finally reached a point this month where I can drink a coffee every now and then, without needing one and that for the first time in a decade or two. I seem to have reached the same stage with alcohol. I can easily not drink it for weeks now and have a glass or two when I feel like it. It feels great to beat the devil ;>)

Hi m8. Thanks for your kind words.
I'm focusing on as many leveling influences in my life at the moment to keep me focused on sticking to the keto... it's not easy, but I do get a tone of healthy fibre to keep the pipes moving. The abundancy challenge is a big part of keeping the focus :)

P.s. here is the markdown for the picture thing:

You're welcome!
I totally get you with the abundance challenge. I feel it came at the right time for me too.

Thanks for the markdown. I could have guessed that, as I know how to make links haha
