Return of the Carbonaceous Bandit (PLUS A PRIZE!)

"Take whatever you want."

An actual quote from one of my actual neighbors this morning when I asked if the leaves on the curb were his. Believe you me, I took my fill today! In previous weeks, I've harvested about thirty bags total. Today, I gathered THIRTY SEVEN. And that's net benefit. Gross was thirty eight, but that last one fell off the truck and got splattered on the road. Whoops.

There's twenty bags, spread on a place where I mulched last year with hay. Thirty bags are there now, I just didn't get a pic. Today's 37 bags came from two houses, and I left some bags. Last year, 37 was a haul from one day over the whole neighborhood. I guess the trees had more leaves this year because of the incredible acorn mast. Takes energy to reproduce so heavily. There's squirrel holes everywhere, but I haven't seen many squirrels. Bet the plentiful food will make for a good bunch of squirrels for next year. Yum.

Don't worry, I'm not missing out on leaves. Most folks haven't raked yet, I've only collected from three or four homes yet :)

My favorite view, though I do prefer the lively green bustle of early summer. This is the stage of the year where nature is getting warm and comfortable in it's bed before the dark restful night, and that's one of my personal favorite feelings. Gold is a good color for it.

Any guess as my top pick for what I'm gonna do with some? Hint: I've wanted to do it for a long time. First correct guess gets 100 LOTUS.

I'm off to bed now, resting deeply after starting some herbs to dry and starting a new tincture. Post coming soon, though you probably already know what it is of you're in the NM or HSCO discord channels ;)

All action for the good of all.

Nate.

Cool haul of leaves! (What's Melissa say.....) LOL

Our oak tree had NO acorns, not 1. First time for that I think. I chalked it up to all the construction in the yard this summer. Not that I'm complaining. I didn't have to pick any out of the Small garden, and it's sure to reduce the squirrel population.

Idk what Melissa says, I didn't tell her lol she'd probably say something about having enough of our own though. Nonsense.

I wonder if that means you'll get super double acorns next season!

I am curious to see, what happens next year for the trees most affected by the construction.

I found out why the hibiscus did poorly and the Big rose did well. Seems my helper friend has been employing selected favoritism for the last 2 years. When he's done foliar spraying he would pour the remainder as a drench on a selected plant. Last year hibiscus, this year Big rose.

These are 2 of 3 shrubs that would have been severely impacted by the construction. So they aren't a good indicator...

Hibiscus and roses are prime candidates for extra love though! @riverflows has inspired me to try roses next year.

Foliar spraying is something I'd like to dabble with next year. Did you use the ones in The Holistic Orchard, or some others?

I make my own. I must do a foliar spray post....

Look for Damascus roses, beautiful scent for whatever you use them for. And the super thorny rugosas make huge hips.

You're going to roll over in a pile of leaves? (That's what I will do if given such a bounty)

You have everything looking so lovely. I feel quite envious that you are plating with leaves while I am playing with snow.

Hmm. I found quite a stash today, how much is shipping on a truckload of leaves to Canada?

I'm hoping we get snow this year!
