Hola amigo/a,

Hello friend,

"Be like a lotus flower growing in the middle of the mud. Shining beautifully before all of nature, making contact with the wholeness that allows the present moment."

Every time we take a peaceful step or breathe mindfully, our spiritual practice -sadhana- grows. Sadhana grows because it is nourished by that food we call consciousness.

The mindfulness we create with each peaceful step allows us contact with the wondrous present moment. With nothing more to look for, each peaceful step or each conscious breath allows us to realize how wonderful life is now without longing for anything else.

Each time we have the possibility to fully and consciously embrace a strong emotion, the clarity and calm that we have lost is restored, and then again our sadhana grows.

Sometimes we allow ourselves to be swept away by these strong emotions, just as a tortoise tries to sweep away a tree with its harsh and relentless wind.

But if our sadhana has been growing with every peaceful step we have taken or with every conscious breath we have taken, we will be like a tree that has deeper and deeper roots, and if our roots are deep, the wind will not be able to blow us away even if it tries a thousand times.

So, we can understand in this way that, in difficult times, spiritual practice -sadhana - will be there for us, available like the roots for the tree that is buffeted by the strong wind of life's storms.

How to use the breath as a tool to anchor us to the earth?

One way to cultivate this strength in the moments when the storm arises is to breathe deeply and bring all the air down to the lowest part of our trunk (to the abdomen), expanding it and becoming aware of how it grows as we inhale, and how it decreases as we exhale.

Conscious of the inhalation, my abdomen grows.
Conscious of the exhalation, my roots stay strong.

The power of a deep breath can't be underestimated, and sometimes all we need to do to approach a problem in life is take a deep breath, pause for a moment, then tackle the problem.

Totally.

We look for more complex solutions when you simply need a good conscious breath to return to our center and make contact with our roots in the earth.
