Show Us Your California - Wasp!

avatar

Hi Friends,

This post is an entry into the weekly contest of @thesocalhive where we show our California.

California is blessed with lots of flowering plants which means lots of pollinating bees! For the most part, any flowering plant you check out closely has bees around it this time of year. The bees will certainly leave you alone if you leave them alone.

However, this big old wasp (Yellowjacket Hornet?) got into our house today and totally freaked my wife and kids out. We caught the wasp in a stuck in a jar – it was one of the biggest I have seen at about 2 inches long:

Crazy looking! I am all for bees, wasps, hornets, etc but my wife’s Mother’s Day flowers are no place to gather your pollen!

Thanks for coming by today,
Brian

My younger son is scared of all these insects too. When I was in school, a flying insect was able to get most students distracted and scared. I had to appear fierce to settle them down.
