Music Monday (feel free to add your own sounds)

The aim is simple, to banish those Monday blues with an eclectic range of music chosen by Steemit friends both old and new.

Music Monday.jpg

Every Monday I intend to post a music video (and a few words explaining my choice) I invite you to join me by doing same in the comments section below. As the forum (hopefully) grows my aim is that we begin to inspire our fellow Steemians to broaden their musical horizons by listening to the music that inspires us. The only thing I ask is that (where possible) every song we listen to is played nice and loudly on headphones or speakers in order that we capture its true essence.

As more Steemians join this venture there is also going to be the possibility of being rewarded for our musical tastes via the amount of upvotes each song receives. That said please never feel awkward about posting a track, a guilty pleasure or even your own musical ventures. I have an extremely wide range of musical interests but also understand that music like beauty is very much in the eye of the beholder. As such I may play my chosen song, but who am I to define what constitutes good music.

Hope everyone is well and has enjoyed a really good week? So for this edition of #musicmonday I've decided to go for something a bit different, a fusion of soundscapes that shouldn't really work but actually very much do. Music that defies convention and blazes its own trail. Anyway, that's enough from me .. today I'll let the music do the talking. I hope you enjoy!

Hey my friend .. hope you've been well, yes sad news indeed .. only heard a couple of hours ago. Great track to choose, certainly not the one everyone else will be playing .. left field, I like it .. and a cool song to boot. Thank you for the music my friend .. enjoyed this one!

You're right, the Black Violin track shouldn't work but really does.

sequentialvibe's choice put me in mind of this track I used to love. I remember to this day the first time I heard it.

A !BEER for you also. It has been a very long time since I listened to any Gary Numan music.

Maybe you could trade it in for a cookie? But I know good beer does make for a nice hair wash, just have to make sure it is not to stout of a beer, the light ales I found worked best.

Hey @deirdyweirdy .. hope you've been well my friend? Great choice this week, man this one is definitely on the soundtrack of my misspent youth lol Such an iconic track, still never been anyone quite like Gary Numan .. and sadly (as yet) I have yet to catch him live .. that will have to change! :) Thank you for the music and for inspiring my trip down memory lane .. another cracking choice! :)

I actually got to see the band at the University of Washington, in one of the small auditoriums, It was great. 1981, I think.

It was a nice change up you had, I had just re listened to this OMD song and a couple others last Thursday. Now I am wanting to re-listen to some Jean Luc Ponty to see if he stood the test of time music wise also.

And a !BEER for the host also.

Hey my friend! Glad you enjoyed the choice this week :) This really is turning into a trip down my childhood memory lane :) Unbelievable how much the world has changed in such a relatively short space of time .. but still, great tracks stand the test of time, and this one is holding up very well! Excellent choice dude, thank you for sharing and thank you for the music!! :D

Hot on the heels of the new RIDE album, one of my other favourite bands from the same era (and kind of but not really same genre) Swervedriver have released a new album... and they were in town last Thursday, but I wasn’t able to go.

I’m not sure what I think of the album yet, it may be one of those slow-burner albums that grows with each listen.

This is probably the stand-out track in my mind.... the title track Future Ruins which has great lyrics.

Hey @metametheus Now I do remember Swervedriver from my old college days, around the same time there was a neo-nazi band called Screwdriver .. and there was an urban legend which told that the posters for a Swervedriver gig were printed as Screwdriver, all the skinheads turned up, and chaos ensued. Never found out if it were true or not, probably not .. but in the realms of possibility! :) In terms of your choice .. very different to their old stuff, but like you say great lyrics and I've listened to the track about three times, and prefer it on each listen. Mainly getting just getting used to the new sound vs the expectation of what it would sound like .. but I like it, definitely a grower! :)

🤣 that’s funny... I can imagine that would have been an interesting gig.

To be honest, I think I prefer the previous album to this one, and only been listening to it also for the last week.

Hello @sunlit .. you did indeed post in time unfortunately, I had gone to bed and was out early this morning .. apologies :) That said, it was a beautiful day today (raining yesterday) so I was listening to these summer sounds whilst watching the sunset .. hence it actually worked out pretty well ;) fantastic selection of tracks you've assembled here .. and each one was a pleasure to listen to. Been a long day at work .. but how could I not be smiling after listening to your choices this week! I consider myself very lucky that I saw David Bowie at either his last or 2nd to last gig .. and he was amazing, on absolute top form and hitting all the notes, hence I was shocked by his heart attack just a week or two later. Anyway, thank you for the music .. excellent choices! :)
