THE VOLATILITY OF THE MUSIC INDUSTRY

image.png

-I know this interrupts my post miniseries about pop and the way music acts, but don't worry because this week I upload the new post of that line that will deal with musical fusions, however this is something that occurred to me , a small reflection that I wanted to share with you and that will help you to better understand how the music industry works (which is what my post is looking for, especially the miniseries that I mention) and if anyone who reads this is a beatmaker, believe me, You NEED to know this, this time you should not look for a snack or something, I'm drinking a good cup of tea, but damn well I write better, this will not be a long post, well let's start.

WHY?

-I started to think about this for two reasons, the first was that while listening to the new trends, the new thing that had come out in urban music to know what kind of beats to make for sale, I noticed something strange, something was different, for what I compared those songs with the ones that came out last month and were very different, was an abrupt change, the songs of this month, they try to be reggaeton of the bush, of the intravenous, of the pure. I say they are trying because they are not yet, or at least it does not seem to me, it lacks something to be it. And it is that I believe that they continue singing very melodic, that is to say. They keep singing, when a reggaeton de la mata is rapped, it is not melodic. They look like those reggaeton pop that from time to time they take out one more beat for the so-called "perreo" (that's called a reggaeton perreo beat) that uses more similar sounds and some are in fact the same as the reggaeton de la mata, the drums of the beat are harder, and to show a button, in this case two buttons.

THE EXAMPLES

-I will use the two songs that made me make this reflection, I will be brief since both are quite similar, so I strongly ask you to listen to them well.

-Let's start with J Balvin, the beat is simple, drums, bass and a melody sample, which is more to harmonize everything, which is how the melody acts rather in reggaeton (or is how it should be) if I'm honest, I don't hear chords as such on the beat, but I know they can be drawn, so that characteristic reggaeton piano with its peculiar rhythm DOES NOT EXIST on this beat, in addition to the fact that J Balvin has always sung in what seems to me a Hybrid between singing and rapping, he dances between the two. Final verdict: It is not reggaeton de la mata, it is a different perreo pop.

-Karol G is not so different, drums and hard basses (although in both songs I think the bass is not as strong as in reggaeton de la mata) in here there is characteristic piano, and you can feel the chords, however. Karol G sings, she is melodic, but she does something similar to zion and lenox, what they do is that one sings and the other raps. Well it's the same here, Karol G sings and the other girl raps. Verdict: It is super similar to reggaeton de la mata, with influence from Zion and Lenox, but it remains the same, perreo pop.

-But after listening to them and reaching this conclusion, there was an unanswered question. Why? Why this almost obsession with doing reggaeton de la mata? What was the trigger? I asked myself these questions and during my meditation, I got the answer.

EL CHOMBO

-Last month, in February, El Chombo, one of the pioneers of reggaeton, gave an interview with Molusco in which he said that reggaeton died, which caused a stir, a whole discussion in the urban genre, everyone attacked Chombo, although the producers, a good majority of them, supported him and those who attacked him are most the artists, the singers, a very big trouble was formed, a discussion, a debate, everything. In fact at the end of the post I will leave the corresponding videos for you to find out and be informed. (Are in spanish)

-Then I found it very interesting, as from 1 comment from a person (although Chombo is not just any fool, it is an important figure in reggaeton as a pioneer) the urban music industry took that turn, just to contradict it. ? It seemed curious to me and I wanted to bring you this reflection, I hope you enjoyed this reading and if you want to know more about the death of reggaeton, the last post of the miniseries about pop talks about that, I will complement what was exposed by El Chombo.

-Sinchrony says goodbye, enjoy your readings.
