Cry Little Sister (The Lost Boys OST) "Cry Little Sister" is a song written by Gerard McCannon under the pseudonym Gerard McMann) and Michael Mainieri, and performed by McMahon for the soundtrack in the 1987 movie. This is my tribute to the movie and I hope you like my version.

Here is another of my "Quarantine" Specials, entirely filmed indoors during my lockdown. This is a cover of Cry Little Sister from the horror comedy "The Lost Boys" (1987). I'm not usually into vampire iconography though I love XIX literature of the genre, but this movie was fun when I was young and I fancied to do something different. Entirely recorded this week and video is just me against a backdrop. :). In fact I have just rewatched the movie :) starred by Kiefer Sutherland, Jami Gertz, Jason Patrick among others and still stands as iconic, but I think this theme above all.

It is like a heartbeat, a pulse... And It gets deep in your veins

Creative Quarantine and STAY HOME!

I released this one day and a half ago, exactly on my 40th Quarantine day...
Did you know the words originates in Italian quarantena, meaning "forty days", a term used in the 14th-15th-century Venetian referring to the period that all ships were required to be isolated before passengers and crew could go ashore during the Black Death plague epidemic.
Well, as you heard in the news my country was badly hit by the Coronavirus Crisis... and we are still on strict lockdown... so expect more "craziness" indoors videos ;-)

In my previous post I had shared "Enjoy the Silence" another retro classic also recorded indoors... I'm revisiting my old young years favourites just for fun... these are strange times and I also have to be a bit indulgent to take some time to do things I enjoy or

Making of picture, beetroot, watercolors and fun... no blood... I'm vegetarian...
pd. It is fun among my listeners I got some critics (privately) because they thought it was too edgy and unexpected from me.... well that's not entirely bad, we want to refresh or change sometimes, but more even, singing about vampires doesn't make me one ;-) it's just storytelling and a tribute to a old vintage movie. So just pointing that, that should not be to be pointed out anyway. :)

Do not fret... no blood (I am vegetarian) just beetroot and watercolors.
I hope you enjoy a bit of retro80s vibes
"Cry Little Sister" is a song written by Gerard McCannon under the pseudonym Gerard McMann) and Michael Mainieri, and performed by McMahon for the soundtrack in the 1987 film The Lost Boys. And here is my take
As always spot the hidden ratties.
Pd. My friend Estela Naiad (she's very fond of vampires and was very surprised I took this turn) called me "Vam-Pris" and "Counted Dra-Tuula" as my rat Tuula appears in the video.

Easter EGGS: There are always rats hidden in my videos (most of times more than one)

Lyrics

Last fire will rise
Behind those eyes
Black house will rock
Blind boys don't lie
Immortal fear
That voice so clear
Through broken walls
That scream I hear
Cry, little sister! (Thou shalt not fall)
Come, come to your brother! (Thou shalt not die)
Unchain me, sister! (Thou shalt not fear)
Love is with your brother! (Thou shalt not kill)
Blue masquerade
Strangers look on
When will they learn
This loneliness?
Temptation heat
Beats like a drum
Deep in your veins
I will not lie
Little sister! (Thou shalt not fall)
Come, come to your brother! (Thou shalt not die)
Unchain me, sister! (Thou shalt not fear)
Love is with your brother! (Thou shalt not kill)

The original version is a bit longer and has some instrumental interludes but I always cut the tributes short

Rewatching the movie

After I released this cover I rewatched the movie. I always had a weak spot for young Kiefer Sutherland in it ;-). It still holds as a good solid 80s fun just like The Goonies, thought here are much darker undertones. The first sound in the movie is a child's voice saying "Cry little sister" and it's as chilling as I remembered it.
When I was young I used to remember how edgy they looked, now it was a bit fun to see all the big hair and mullets XD, if there is a movie with a fashion that screams EIGHTIES out loud is this one... but also it cast a great influence in many.
There are many versions of the song but mine nourish from the original movie, especially the parts sung by the children choir which were the ones that stayed with me.

Have you ever watched it? Do you remember it?

Thank you, I guess it's quite an unexpected turn from me (even if I sometimes do darker songs, even originals) LOL But strange times and moods and in fact all filmed by myself and my phone just in the room I'm typing in LOL XD I should call them "The Quarantine series" LOL

It was "quick and fun" so it's not like a full production or anything, I recorded pretty much straight away. And the video well I had not fake blood, or fangs or possibility to go outside so I had to get creative, an old watercolour, the beetroot juice and a black background LOL XD it was hard to fill all the video LOL but I hope at least the result is elegant :) even if minimalistic :)

What an awesome cover! This is one of my favorite songs from the movie, the other one being "Lost in the Shadows".

I was seventeen when the movie came out and I must have seen it more than a dozen times back then.

1987 was a really great year and I have a lot of good memories from that period. Thanks for sending me on this stroll down memory lane. It lifted my spirits up a bit.

Thank you so much. I was more on the age of the younger brother but so many iconic movies I remember with fondness... In fact during lockdown I've been playing a lot of 80s, Mike Oldfield, this, Depeche Mode, Tears for Fears and movies like The Neverending Story, Legend and many others... so expect a few more geeky experiments. I always had a sweet spot for David, like he was a "Lost boy" after all, his death was not triumphant it was more sad, for a second you could see him humanly scared of dying... Glad it brought memories :)

I've been listening to a lot of 80s bands too, including those you mentioned. Looking back at those times makes me wish we could go back to the simple life we had back then. The music takes me back there.

And more than anything else, we miss being young and seemingly immortal. I guess that's why these vampire and werewolf movies appeal so much to us.

We all want to be able to "Sleep all day. Party all night. Never grow old. Never die. It's fun to be a vampire."

I have always been more fae than vampire but kind of see vampires belonging to the "unseelie" court ;-)
Yes the nostalgia, I really like older movies and songs, I guess even my own originals have a little of retro vibe :)
sorry I couldn't not vote your comment in time, but feel free to reply and I'll do :)
