Rock Classics #39 - Suicidal Tendencies

Rock Classics - a band I saw live back in 1992 - they paved the stage for Metallica!

This is a band known within several genres - a project that existis since 1980 and was combining different styles from Metal to Hip Hops towards their own interpretation of music / art. Suicidal Tendencies are usually considered as crossover thrash rock - no matter how you define that - can one define this at all?

I was sceptic before the Metallica concert hearing they playbbefore. The line up was Suicidal Tendencies to start the Open Air with over 100,000 people (me included), to be followed by "The Cult" and leading the way to the main act Metallica. The Suicidal Tendencies broke all my expectations - this was the concert of my life I was really surprised and thrilled by a band I was sceptic befoe. These guys rocked the stage and made it really difficult for The Cult later. Since that day back in 1992 I am a fan of the California Trash Heroes!

About the Band

They created the project 39 years ago in Venice, California by vocalist Mike Muir - the last original member of the founding band crew nowadays. The band released thirteen studio albums and hit their first success with their 1983 self-titled debut album which was considered "hardcore punk". They are not as popular as other known trash bands but to me something special. They also shaped a certain style of clothing of their own. Folded up baseball caps, blue bandanas and basketball shirts with the Suicidal logo and number 13 on them are probably the most striking examples. Hope you like the following and above sounds!
