Real #SteelDrumLife: Performing With Steel Parade At The 2019 LA Harbor Boat Show Part 1 of 2.

Follow along and read about my two day journey. Complete with steel drum music!

This is part 1 and this post will feature an errand to Los Angeles's Fashion District before the sites and a Steel Parade steel drum band performance at the LA Harbor Boat Show's VIP tent.

Do you other musicians run around like this before they perform?

1️⃣ First, get up early and run to Starbucks for the GF?!?

Okay, for me too... I did it. I do it. It's embarrassing. Addiction, bad timing, and economic madness all perpetuated before 8:30 a.m. The parking lot is a mess. Trash everywhere, leftover cups, loaded trashcan, stained sidewalks that were installed about four years ago.

The parking lot is shared with a Home Depot.

I fear I'll be back...

2️⃣ Second, run to Home Depot for fly traps and then retrieve payroll checks and deliver them to the fashion district in downtown Los Angeles.

Maybe actual "musicians" need don't run around like this at all?

You can see what happen at Home Depot from the bottom section of the image above (with the coffee). Fly traps. Where else would you go for your fly trap needs?

Hardware stores are gone or hard to find. No time to mess around, so I head out to retrieve the payroll. It's a beautiful day and I have a panoramic to prove it. I don't care if you know where this is. Just don't bring your dog. There are already lots of people here with too much dog pee pee to spread around here already.

Have fun though!

Running errands around the city all day would be fun if you were not trying to avoid peaking-out before an evening performance. If I peak-out too early, I will be tired for my bass performance with @steelparade tonight and for the follow-up performance tomorrow morning. (Part 2)

Don't peak-out too early, Bass Players... Slappers!

It's not a good idea to peak-out early in the day unless you have time to relax, or take a nap, or take a bath, or meditate, or spank a monkey, or take a nap, or whatever gets you chill. Take a 15-20 min nap. Make time to relax before doing stuff.

This image below features all the shots I took from the road. I usually have plans for some of these. Execution is rare, but I'm making changes. The gallery view I'm using in this post saved me lots of time and still tells a lot of the story, right?

The image featured below is also from the road. It shows a few images that were usually part of my o'school Panoramic series of DTLA. (I might restart that series again, yes?)

I forgot this one time.

I forgot to take the famous panoramic image I usually feature. I was distracted and I was worried about getting a ticket while parked in the alley. Of all the days to forget!!!

Instead, I got this panoramic and some other stuff too:

ALMOST...

It's time to go home and rest before the boat show's down beat.

3️⃣ Finally, the boat show. ⛵️

This day would have been a somewhat "normal" gig day, except I was also scheduled to perform on the opposite side of town at the LA Harbor Boat Show. Yes, after being asked to run an errand to Orange County and Downtown Los Angeles. That is a lot. I don't recommend it before performing.

After all the diving and successful traffic dodging, I am scheduled to preform with #steelparade for the VIP lounge guests at the 2019 LA Harbor Boat Show. We will perform for 4hrs.

The images below features a collection of dirty window images. I'm going to trick people into thinking this is art. It also contains the thumbnail of a fun high-speed video. I took the high-speed video while driving over the old bridge that is under the new bridge. It's fun/fast. I'll probably add the video to DTube.

I'm here at the boat show! All I need is my bass for today and tomorrow. No bass amp! I will play out of @steelparade's PA system. It sounds great and we will be on a giant floating platform for the VIPs anyway... A big resonant piece of wood. Our little power trio will be on a dock with catering, a bar, seats, and tables.

It's gonna be like a MC Hammer video. (jk)

Below is a high speed view of the new bridge under construction. It's being build next to the old bridge. In my experience, they need to keep both bridges.

I said...

I made a DTube, STEEL DRUM, MUSIC Video about it!!!

Steemseph Bridge Screen Shot Steel Parade Music for Steem Post

Wasn't that an awesome video?!!!!!!!!!!

Those upside-down steel drum images are new to the of millions of steel drum images I've been hoarding. I have plans for them, but... blah blah blah...

We perform and everyone is happy. My back does't hurt too much, but this moving plat form is one of the most intense workouts to the muscles around my Iliac crest in a long time.

WTF is the MUSIC Steemseph!?!?!?

I'm the guy that captures images of upside down steel drums, remember? This was taken in the parking lot a few moments before we walked in to performed.

We get tired, the sun goes down and everyone seems happy, yet poised for the next day's early start. Many conversations contain the question, "Will you be here tomorrow morning?"

The next day won't have as many city officials, interviews, and boat mobsters. There should be a little more of a relaxed vibe tomorrow. Part 2 of this post is next.
