#99: I woke up with the world ending in my head this morning
They say the world is ending... again.
This song seems pretty fitting for the times. Or maybe it's just me. Everything has a pretty apocalyptic feel these days. Again, maybe it's just me. I've been down in the dumps lately. It's been nearly a month already, but I'm still reeling from the death of my mother. That and some related issues have made it very difficult to focus on life. Work has been especially difficult to deal with, but that has more to do with the company and the job than my mental health. Or at least as much to do with it.
Anyway, I'm rambling. But yeah, that's why I haven't been posting. I'm trying to get out of my funk, though.
What's with all the country music, bro?!
My musical tastes still seem to trend almost toward country, though I still don't listen to the type of country that is popular. Brent Cobb has written songs for some of those country artists, and I think that's probably his bread and butter. His own songs are great, though. To me, this sort of country music is just folk music with a southern accent.
It's not surprising at all that this was in my head this morning. This album has been played at least once a day by me for a while now. When I'm driving to work, I usually listen to it.
For some reason, I like to pick one record to drive to work to for a while and go with that until something else pops up. Then if you're driving the route with no music on, you hear the songs when you reach certain parts of the journey.
99th post in this series!
It might not be that evident anymore, considering I only seem to make one of these posts per month or so, but I've been doing these posts for a couple of years now. The original idea was to do it every day, but life gets in the way of that. If I were going to do that, I'd probably just have to keep a notebook by my bed and write the songs down, then make the posts later.
Spotify, anyone?
YouTube videos are one way to share music, but what about Spotify? Is that useful, or is a video better because everyone can play it? Actually, I don't even know how it works with a Spotify song if someone doesn't have a subscription. It probably still plays, I suppose. They do have ad-supported listening.
This post is part of an ongoing series in which I document the songs which are in my head immediately upon waking. I've been making them for a long time now.
Do you wake up with songs in your head regularly? What song was in your head this morning? Comment below, I'd love to hear from you!
