Obliging Doom
My mind, it rocks gently
like birds on a swing,
swaying like trees
on the edge of a dream.
You made me believe
We could fly through the sky
like angels skyrocketing
into the Great Light
My heart now sits dying
beneath the Rose Moon
as Death lays me down
and my thoughts turn to You.
This night is so cold.
Why'd you leave me to rot
in the swamps of my madness
all tied up in knots?
I wrote songs about you
and the way that you hurt me
I sang to the stars
and pretended you loved me
I hope that I'll find you
beneath all these flowers
that lie on your
tombstone
which soon
will be ours.

I stared at you.
And I did not flee
as you smiled at me
Look at that sky.
It warned me so well.
Like deep scarlet sheets
on the bed of all Hell.

I can stay till the end.
But I can't stand to smile,
and I won't call you friend.
