I was just playing around with

Track 7, Chords w/ ROLI 'Neon Lush Pad'
some foley samples I found in a folder I had completely forgotten about last night, and wound up with what sounded like a glitchy hi-hat sort of pattern (clips in Track 5), so I decided to just add some more stuff and see what happened. This is the result so far, and I really like the general vibe here. I next added a kick (Track 4), which plays pretty constantly, though with velocity variation to get a really driving, though slower, groove. Finally, I went with a snare sound I have really never used; it's a preset in the 'Snare Designer' tool from Puremagnetik, and is definitely an acoustic drum kit, though you can tweak the sound by adjusting the various mic placements, and wind up with a something a little more digital sounding. Here, it still retains some of the realism, but I think with the echo, it doesn't feel too out of place, which I've definitely run in to when combining electric and acoustic kits/sounds. Track 2 is technically the final drum track, which provides the little tom parts over the Chorus, though that was actually added last. I like the intensity, but think there needs to be a pre-Chorus (or two different pre-Choruses) to build things up to that more effectively.

Track 6, both A (Verse) and B (Chorus) parts

Listen to Streek here...

Track 6 was the first instrument, and I chose one of the

Track 8, LABS Guitar
LABS' piano pads, though with the effect turned down a bit, so the piano is a lot more apparent. I was imagining something super simple, and decided to try just using this as the bass part, which I liked. It plays the two parts pictured above; in the A section, every note (and chord above them on other tracks) after the first of each 4 anticipates the next bar, coming in one 1/8th beat early. This made it WAY more interesting than the notes just coming in on the bar line, which I had initially done. In the B section, everything is back on the bar lines, and the overall rhythm changes to fit with that more straight feeling. Track 7 is a ROLI synth, the 'Neon Lush Pad', which adds some chords over the B section (the screenshot is to the right of the first paragraph at the top of the post). I decided to add some 7ths and 9ths, though keeping everything a triad by removing other notes, so it wouldn't be too big or muddy. Track 8 is the LABS Monochord instrument, which adds some single note swells over some A parts, and the final 2 B parts. Track 9 is the LABS Peel Guitar, and plays the line pictured to the left here, using only minor and major 2nds, except for the very last chord hit at the end of the 8 bars. Finally, we have Track 10, which only plays a single ascending line over long G chords in the A section. Overall, I really like this idea so far, and think with some pre-Choruses/transitions, it could be a lot cooler!
