So this is still a pretty sloppy

A new free tool, sTilt, allows you to darken or brighten sound with a super simple interface
outline of the general idea, as there are a TON of little things I either ignored or didn't notice at first, but I figured I'd go ahead and share it and hopefully over a few days have it slowly morph into a lot more cohesive idea. There aren't going to be as many screenshots as usual, as EVERYTHING is bounced to audio except a single track. Once again, I forgot to leave the original MIDI for screenshots, hehe. I started with the Prophet V demo from Arturia, which allows you full access to the synth for 30 minutes at a time. Tracks 2-4 are all various presets from it, under the 'Ambient' category, and outline the basic progression: D, Emin (our tonic), Cmaj7... which holds for a while, then Emin, back to Cmaj7, before repeating. We're in 4/4, but the placement of the chord changes and the drums give it a groove that is really spastic, and not very straight. Track 6 is a bass synth, which just sticks to root notes as well. I definitely think a B part is needed, and the song will be longer overall, so maybe even a third different section, depending on where it goes. Track 7 is what I really love here, and the reason I wanted to keep working on it: the drums. I made a really simple beat using the Steven Slate Drums demo, but then added a Portal effect to it, which resulted in the awesome pattern. There are what sound like tom rolls, and double bass stuff, which wasn't in the original, and just comes from the craziness of Portal. Tracks 8 and 9 both add some bleepy bloopy synths in the background; I think when I fix some of the levels, these will be a little more apparent. Track 10 is the Cypher2 synth, which just plays root notes. It sort of pops out from the bass synth at certain points, as they are in the same range at times. Finally, we have Track 11, a random little audio clip just as a placeholder till I find something cooler for those drum fill bars. Overall, I think this has the potential to be a lot cooler, so I'll spend some time with it and see what happens!
