'Space Mole Jazz' - Original Music - A Throwback Tune from Two Years Ago - Electronic/Instrumental + Walkthrough

I had a few random little things

that I probably could have shared, but they aren't really finished enough to justify a post, or aren't particularly good. I tried to write 3 things last night, all of which have some good ideas in them, but I spent no time mixing, and was using laptop speakers, so frankly, they sound pretty trashy, haha. I'll revisit them over the next few days and see if I can't find something more interesting within each to build a more complete song around, but in the meantime, I figured a throwback tune would be a good idea, as I haven't done one in quite a while. I try to avoid them, as its more interesting to have new music EVERYDAY, even if its just a short idea, or something I'm changing entirely, but sometimes, I don't really even have that. This used to annoy me, but I've become a lot more comfortable with writing as much as possible when I feel like it, and knowing that none of it is guaranteed to interest me after the fact. It's all still good practice, particularly in using a DAW.

I wasn't sure what song to choose

for this post, but as I was looking through the VERY first Soundcloud I ever opened, I saw that I had used that account to comment on a later account/song (I've had quite a few Soundclouds, lol), and I followed that comment to this tune. This is from two years ago, and is entirely built around samples, something that I don't do very much, and if I do these days, I try and warp/chop/effect the sample so its completely unrecognizable. However, at this time, I had been using Ableton for a while, but still was learning ALL kinds of new tricks and techniques everytime I logged in, and I thought it would be interesting to try and build a song using pre-created ideas. I of course warped a few things to fit the BPM, and chopped up the little trumpet sound/reversed it to fit, but mostly it was just an exercise in placement of the sounds. Overall, I love the sound of this, though it definitely could be remixed/mastered quite a bit, but for the time, I think it was an interesting concept.

Enjoy the throwback tune! Thanks for listening!
