I am going to work on the song idea

EQ and Gate on Snares, Track 3
from yesterday tonight, but last night, I was a bit bored, and decided to try and do a ten minute songwriting challenge, and this is the result. I didn't get a lot done in the 10 minutes as far as multiple tracks, but I did wind up with two Serum synths, so I think spending a few minutes each on those is pretty reasonable. I actually started with the bass, which I recorded into Track 5, from Serum. I like the envelope swell that happens with it, but I must have screwed up and had the last two notes overlap, so it only happens on the first two. I do like the dissonance of the line though, starting on D, down to Db, then down to A, up to an Eb, and then repeat.

Serum, Making a Synth

Listen to Number here...

At the top, we have a group which is all the drums, with

Track 5, Bass Synth Audio
kicks in Track 2, snares in Track 3, and some hats in Track 4. I did something unusual with the hats, using a 'selector' instrument, which has multiple hi-hat sounds that you can roll through, so I automated the sound choice knob so we get a few different hits. Track 6 is also drums, but I didn't have time to move it into the group. It just adds some shakers. Track 7 is another Serum synth, recorded to audio, which plays a higher, consistent 1/16th note progression, which moves from D, up to an A for two bars, then up again to Bb for a bar, before repeating. This harmony turned out to be pretty cool over the bass. Finally, we have Track 8, which was a piano track which played a 3 note line over each chord. I recorded this to audio, then chopped up each bar, and reversed them, so we get that cool backwards piano sound.
