'NinjaRandum' - New Original Music - Playing Around w/ Ableton's 'Random' Midi Tool - Electronic/Instrumental + Walkthrough
This isn't a song per se, more
of an experiment using the Random tool in Ableton, but the results, at least of the drums, were pretty awesome and wild, so I figured I'd share this and use this same idea, maybe even the same drums, to build a more complete idea, which I'll share here. The first two tracks are piano's, specifically the Soft Piano from Spitfire Audio's LABS, which has sort of become my go-to when I need a general piano. The little progression is goofy, and dissonant, beginning with an Emin, to a Gmin, then a big, weird, whole tone chord which is held over two bars. Track 1 just has a delay effect added; I was experimenting with the 'Dub Delay' rack, which I downloaded a few weeks ago. Not sure if I love the effect, but again, these aren't permanent, just funny little additions so the drums had something around them.
Track 3 (Original Midi), Ninja Drums w/ Random MIDI Plug-In

Track 4 is the next midi instrument, which plays a basic
bass part, though, again, it's kind of bleh. I wasn't too focused on adding anything interesting, as I wanted the drums to be the focal point. I bounced the drums down to audio clips (Track 3), so the random effect wouldn't alter things everytime I mixed the song. As you can see in the screenshot above, the Ninja Drum kit has quite a few different hits; the random effect allows for 24 of them to be used, and each hit is fully randomized (100% on the plug-in), so most of the time, things don't repeat, and if they do, it doesn't happen for very long.
